Echoreef 250 Entry Way

Looking very nice! How do you like the coral appearance in person? Is this the PacSun unit that uses many colours and no whites? Can you explain how the colour looks? Do the corals look better than other lighting: such as LED units with White LEDs, Metal Halides, T5 etc?

Many thanks.

Some pictures of the wire management. All the water change tubing, electrical cords go through the wall into an electric wooden panel.

I went from T5 lighting under the ATI Powermodule to the Ecotech Radions LED. Comparing the 3 types of lighting with only T5 to only LED to now a hybrid, the Pacific Sun fixture brought out the best in the coral coloration. It is a bit too early to tell since the transition was only completed a month ago. However, I have never had better color and polyp extensions on my SPS. When I switched from T5 to LED, there was a 3 months transition period when the corals did not look very good. Under the Radions, the light was too blue for my taste even when I tried many different program setting. Now they look very natural and I get the best of both world. The T5 for good color distribution and preventing shadows and the LED for coral growth, color, and shimmer without too much heat.

Awesome tank !!! Love it !!! Follow it along . The color which the light bring up is beautiful, exactly same as my taste.

That's correct. I use sound dampening pads I got from bulkreefsupply to lessen the noise from contact between the pump and the acrylic pan.

Did you use two pads? I am looking for a pad to place under my reeflo dart. Will probably go with those.

Thank you. The hybrid LED with T5 brought a new dimension to lighting that I've been happy with in the new tank.

The pad is well made. It can stand some water spills on it. I do use 2 pads since the Reeflo DART has an area in the front (volute) and a rubber feet in the back. One pad will not be big enough. I also had my sump drilled a little higher to 3" from the bottom so raising the return pump with the pads worked out.

How is the new light working out?

It's still holding up well. The corals are keeping their colors. Tank is still new so it's a lot of watch and wait for the frags to grow out. I did change out one of the T5 bulb to get a a whiter look. Took out the Actinic and replaced with ATI Coral Plus.

I love your aquarium and I love the Pacific Sun, would be too much to ask you to come up a video to see how the tank looks now with the new Coral Plus?
Thank you and greetings from Spain!

I am going to work on a video and post it this week. The tank is now about 3 months live. Most of the corals are doing well. Some have regained some colors from being browned out during the transfer phase. I did lose 3-4 really nice SPS frags after cutting over to the new system. A lot of this can be attributed to the unstable water condition since it took me time to get the ATO, calcium reactor, carbon, and GFO reactors online. I have not tested my water at all due to time constraint. Will start doing that this week and keep a log. Hopefully that will get the corals to where they need to be.

I have made some changes to reduce the fish population. Some not by choice. I lost 2 angels when I went on vacation. The goldflake angel disappeared and I never recovered the body. The flame angel body was found when I got back. This is sad since the goldflake has been with me for 4 years since I entered the hobby.

Another big change is selling the huge emperor angelfish. This one unfortunately did not have adequate room given that it was about 11 inches. The emperor is in a better home after a local reefer picked it up for his 8' 300 gallon aquarium. So with the extra room, this is my new addition.

Here is a video from today. Corals have not grown much. Some are doing good with regaining their colors. I do have some problems with high phosphate at the moment. There are some burnt tips on the SPS that I am watching over. The alkalinity is at 7.4 so it's not too high. On the T5 lighting, I think I like the Actinic better than the ATI Coral Plus. Might have to switch the bulb back.

Good morning!
Yesterday I saw the video on my count of YouTube since I am subscribed to your station and being honest thought like you, considering I have not seen him alive and I just see it through the computer or the phone, personally, I like the one actinic everything more Looked great.
Greetings from Spain!
forgive my English since I write with an English translator.

Tank looks great Eric !

I forgot to ask you, how are the school of the 5 yellow tangs doing ? Do they get along ? Is there much fighting ? Thinking about doing a small school myself...

They are doing great and growing fast. Most of the time they get along. Occasionally, there are isolated incidents of one chasing another but it's rare. They all look very healthy and out in the open all the time. There will be a day when I may have to move 2 so I will have a small trio. Hopefully it will not happen soon and all 5 can stay in my tank. I have more room now that the Emperor Angel has been moved out.

Looking great!

Just keep an eye on the burnt tips...you've got some nice large colonies...dont want you to lose anything. :)
