EcoSmart Live Comprehensive Update (BETA)

In continued to try and upgrade both my pumps last night and i was unsuccessful various times. I was able to get the vortech to flash green and blue then it would come up with an error as occurred every single time i tried it (approximately 9 times no joke)! I will try again today and see how it goes but i have a feeling it might be my internet connection at the house or something.

Prior to logging onto the ESL, delete your cache and cookies, then try upgrading your Vortech pumps.

I have found out in the last day, if I delete my cache and cookies prior to logging onto the ESL program, the program seems more stable. Not perfect, but better.

Have a great afternoon,
Randy

I have been having some issues.

1. I have to power cycle my reeflink about once a day to get ecosmartlive to see it. The reeflink thinks its connected ( all blue lights ) but ecosmartlive says its not connected. It seems like many people are having this issue.

2. Renaming devices does not seem to be 100%. The device manager will show the rename but the device fails to rename. After a while the device will show up as gray in the device manager.

3. I did the firmware update on all 3 of my mp10s and got them all to show up in ecosmartlive. I then started to rename devices and add them to my 2 aquariums. At some point I removed one of my mp10s from an aquarium and it would no longer show up in the device manager. I followed the instructions Ryan at Ecotech gave me to reset the device and it still does not show up.

4. My last issue which is a bit of a show stopper. My device manager is now completely blank on multiple computers. All that shows up is the header and the footer for the page.

kth,

Just tried logging onto the ESL website and I think Ecotech Marine must be performing a upgrade right now or the website is down.

I see in their what's new area, they have a new update for the ESL program date June 30, 2014.

In the device manager of the ESL program, my 2 MP 40's do not display as well, but they show up if I use the refresh feature within the program manager section.

Once Ecotech works out the kinks with the ESL program, this will be fantastic to use.

We all have to remember to be extremely patient and also keep the programmers at Ecotech in the loop with our problems.

Thanks,
Randy

I wanted to follow up with some details to maybe help out Ecotech and I cannot seem to edit my post.

I have been using Chrome exclusively for my browser when doing this.
I believe that the connectivity issue may be related to dynamic ip addresses but I have not verified this.

mypepper,

Do you know if the update has been released? Because i have been having some issues with ESL last night and this morning. My reeflink says disconnected and it was blue this morning before i left for work. I am at work currently and trying to connect to my other radion and put it in my current set up but it is not working.
I took the other radion off because i swear the intensity or the color spectrum did not match the left radion i have so i was trying to trouble shoot and reconnect the radion to my tank to hopefully get the spectrum to match each other because i would assume they should be the same when they both get the same program. Now i cannot even connect to the reef link let alone get my other radion back online.
I wonder if it is best to just wait a few days and go off the program that is already saved

If you go onto the ESL website and then check what's new, there is supposed to be a new upgrade today, June 30th. I'm not sure if was released over the weekend, which I saw the upgrade date on Saturday.

The upgrade is primarily for the Radions.

As for helping you with your Radions, I can't help you on that, since I own the AI Hydra 52.

Thanks,
Randy

EcoSmart Live Beta Update

EcoSmart Live Beta Update

Tomorrow morning we will be updating the EcoSmart Live Beta site with defect fixes and improvements based on your feedback. So again, thank you all for your patience and feedback during our public beta. Here is a short list of the updates:

- Fixed a defect with loading aquariums that have only VorTech pumps. This would have produced a "blank" Devices page and also prevented the aquarium from showing up in the Aquariums drop-down.
- Improved adding VorTech modes to the daily schedule by auto-filling the mode to the right or snapping to midnight if necessary
- Fixed a defect with the Connection Manager not showing as connected when it was connected
- Minor style and performance improvements to the Aquarium Layout and Device Manager

Are there any issues with ESL Beta not recognizing vortechs? Mine were being recognized and I accidentally deleted the profile and now I am unable to add them back.

How far is your ReefLink from your VorTech pumps? Unfortunately, the VorTech update process is very prone to wireless interference. If your ReefLink is too far away (greater than 100 feet), it could cause problems updating. We recommend placing your ReefLink within 30 feet during a wireless VorTech upgrade if possible. If you still experience update issues, we can walk you through changing the RF frequency on your EcoTech equipment as your other wireless devices might be creating too much interference on the default frequency.

The "blank" profile issue that you have experienced will be fixed in an update tomorrow morning.

It sits inches away and there are no other radio devices in the area, besides the Radions.

I accidentally deleted, soooo I thought to myself, "self, it would be nice if we could roll back to an ealrier profile." :)

oops my bad I thought you were responding to my post :)

You might actually want to try placing your ReefLink a little farther, maybe 10 feet or so. I know it goes against what I just said, however it might help.

Also, you could try using Ethernet instead of Wifi if applicable. If your ReefLink is currently connected via Wifi, you can simply connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable and the ReefLink will automatically switch to Ethernet.

If you have multiple VorTech pumps that you are trying to update, please make sure that you do only one at a time, keeping the rest powered down during the update.

They were already updated and added to the profile but then I deleted the tank profile by accident, and that deleted all the devices from ESl, now I am having problems adding the pumps back. I will try again tomorrow.

No luck, I moved the reeflink further away and nothing. The strange thing is that when the reeflink is searching for addressed devices it sees the vortechs I am guessing since it finds 8 devices, 4 radions and 4 vortechs. but then it only shows the radions in the device manager.

TardFarmer,

I had the same type of issues with my vortechs getting connected. In order to slove the problem i did this recipe:
1) Log out of ESL
2) turn off the reeflink by removing the power
3) turn on the reeflink
4) turn off all radions and all vortechs and remove from power
5) sign into ecosmart live
6) take one vortech individually power it on and then do a reset on the vortech ( hold mode and set after it turned on until flashing red white and blue then hold mode till red and purple, then hold set and the vortech will reset)
7) do this for all your vortechs, then remove the power from all of them again with the radions still off
8) now do the update firmware again per each individual vortech and after each one is complete and ESL prompts you do upgrade another vortech say no.
9) Then go to add devices via wireless, add the vortech you just updated ( so the power must stay on after the firmware update) rename the pump so you know hwich one is which.
10) repeat steps 8) and 9) for each for vortech making sure to turn them off after you place them in your ESL aquarium
11) It is a long process, but this is how i got it to work
Let me know if you have any questions and i can try to help you. I was successful using these steps

Ryan

No problem,

Let me know how it goes. I have been trouble shooting this for a few days and i know what a struggle it can be sometimes.
