This is a good one...I like it..:bounce2:!
Thank you James, what do you think ecotech about the warranty extension program?

Thank you Tim for your very direct and blunt answer. For each point there exists a counterpoint. While opinions may differ, I do not view any of my postings as untrue, or providing false information. I have in fact offered helpful advice in other Ecotech threads, and have not written negative posts on other products. IMO, that says something. I do still own 1 radion and 6 MP40s which are excellent water pumps. My negative opinions on ESL are not exclusive, and are shared by many. I apologize if my voice has been harsh and negative. I would rather be honest than blow smoke. I will leave your threads alone in the future.Ghostman-
There is a difference between a used unit and a refurbished unit. We do not just plop one person's light into another's hands. There is a quality controlled refurbishing process and the units are neither used nor new. Moreover the SEP upgrade path is not even available yet and won't be until 2013. Things change in the dynamic world of manufacturing; We are upfront with our information to the best of our ability and that's the end of that. Moreover, there will be new Radions also added to the SEP pool, though I doubt you'd actually be able to tell the difference between one and a refurbished unit.
I appreciate your input as always, but if I'm not mistaken you do not own a Radion LED any longer. However I see you posting a lot on this thread, as well as others about the Radion LED extolling your dissatisfaction with how we do things, especially relating to ESL.
In the words of the RC mods, "if you have a hatchet to bury then this is not the place." We are watching your postings and so are the moderators.
The SEP programming will utilize refurbished lights. This potentially means used Radions that have been brought up to 100% new spec, including replacing the fan unit and of course new LEDs. The firmware will be updated to the latest as well. There will be a scratch standard for lights used in the SEP program that is up to the typical standard that you'd expect for an EcoTech Marine product, but lower than a brand new Radion.
It made it sound like like the SEP program was NOT using refurbished units. Thank you for the clarification. What sort of warranty will the refurbished G2 units have? 30 days? This is false information; you would not receive a used unit through the SEP program if you are upgrading your G1 XR30w.
i would like to say i Agree with aoeBombcat but to my Questions. i have two radions G1 over my 75 Gallon tank now and just to put this in to i upgrade to a 90 gallon tank but when i upgrade my radions i'm think i'm going to do the pro upgrade.will i still need two radions on that tank ? i was thinking i read some place if you had a TIR lens they put out more light and you would not need as many radions for a tank. my other Question is if i did the RMA option would that come with the fan upgrade and be just like i did the SEP upgrade? i just want to make sure i understand everything right.i'm thinking about buying a radion for my 34 Gallon Solana.if i will just need one light over my 75 gallon tank then i will just move the other one to my Solana and not buy a new one. thanks for your time.
This is exactly true; we would be more than happy to help in the rare events mentioned. If there is an issue, I am sure it will be handled on a case by case issue.
Radions haven't been around for very long, but Vortech pumps have.
Ask anyone who has had an issue with their Vortechs, in AND out of warranty, and you will see that Ecotech is always more than fair when it comes to taking care of their customers.

Three G2's officially on pre-order!
Just want to make a quick point. I was on the fence between the Vega's and the Radion's for several months and was very indecisive. In the end, it was the excellent customer service and tech support that I've gotten from EcoTech in the past with other products (MP10, MP40's, and MP60's) that pushed me over the fence.
"Wish I could've gone with the Pro's, but just couldn't justify the extra $900 ($300 x 3units)."
Is this formula still correct as of right now for how much the SEP program will cost for Pro Radion units ?
His quote above is referencing the difference in new cost between a Pro and a G2. The pricing for the Pro SEP has not been announced.

I think it will be challenging for you to price the Pro upgrade. Everyone who was not eligible for the rebate paid almost $800 US per fixture for their G1.. In my case, $839 CDN per unit 7 months ago. Adding $300 per fixture, speculated price, for the Pro upgrade less than a year later is a big pill to swallow. Sometimes it is expensive to be an early adopter of technology. Perhaps there should be a purchase cut off date for the upgrades so people don't double dip.. I sure most folks registered their lights on your website by serial number as I did. Could be a way to reward your early adopters.
