I agree, my tank look like crap with all the tunze hanging inside :D

No worries Steve....when people look at your tank they are just totally amaze at the amount of flow and the sheer size of that tank, nothing else matter !!

:p

Larger tanks are a lot more difficult to hide pumps unless you opt for a couple of OM CL systems :rolleye1:

WATER PARAMETER UDPATES…..

WATER PARAMETER UDPATES…..

Did a 10% weekly WC and check my water params as below:

• Temperature â€"œ 25.4 degree C (light off)
• Salinity Gravity â€"œ 35ppt (Calibrated refractometer - 53ms Pinpoint Solution)
• NO3 â€"œ 0.2 (Salifert Test kit â€"œ same as last week)
• PO4 â€"œ 0.18 (D&D Test kit â€"œ down from last week 0.25)
• dKH â€"œ 7.5 (API test kit â€"œ drop from last week 8)
• dKH â€"œ 8.0 (Elos test kit â€"œ drop from last week 8.5)
• Ca â€"œ 410 (Salifert test kit â€"œ down from last week 440)
• Ca â€"œ 430 (Elos test kit â€"œ down from last week 450)
• Mg â€"œ 1350 (Salifert test kit â€"œ up from last week 1290)
• Mg â€"œ 1300 (Elos test kit â€"œ same as last week)
• Potassium â€"œ390 â€"œ 400 range (Kz Test kit â€"œ same as last week)

Params looking great. My PO4 is on the right direction â€"œ DOWN so hopefully it will keep to this trend in coming weeks….!!

So far only slight diatoms and green algae appear but each time I dose Zym, the diatoms completely disappear the next day. The small green algae that appear on the sand are manually removed daily before it can become a nuisance.

Also did some housekeeping and vacuum cleans my sump tank as more junk is gathering there. Don’t want the sump to be a NO3 factory.

Hmmm the Ehiem automatic vacuum is soooo easy to used!!

Ed, Have you used zeozyme yet and/or coral snow? I just added them for the first time this week. Thanks

Hey mark did you have a slime algae issue that prompted you to start or are you just looking for clear water like LCN has?

I looked into zyme before it came into the states over on the zeo fourms. This is the one time of the year when I get a diatom/cyano bloom, so I wanted to try to take some precautionary steps that might help me this summer.

You planning on something similar??? :D

It's actually not too bad removing em Stream rocks or you can have the stream rocks as your top level of your scape.

Problem I didn't do that is cause with 3 stream rocks, the aquascape will look too symmetry for my liking

Yes sir. i am planning on doing the same. i have 3 tunzes too. thinking of hiding them in the rock and getting 2 vortech.

Love your tank thread. its a good way to distress myself. really hope to pay u a visit @ china :)

I have only dosed it twice, so I may not be the right person to ask. I know Brianbigoats has been using it for a lot longer than I have. You might shoot him a qustion on his tank thread in the elos forum.

Yes I used both CS and Zym.... I dose them twice twice weekly (at different days for CS/ Zym) to keep my sand bed clean.

For CS, I usually dose it directly into the tank display

For Zym, I take a cup of tank water and place a tea spoon of this powder and stir it and leave it overnight and dose the next day. Some people does it with the skimmer off but I don't bother

If you have a huge diatom/ red slime, you can dose zym with bak to increase the effectiveness daily until the red slime is gone

:p

I'm very please with it as it's simply plug n play!! The whole vacuum is even fully submersible so even suitable for deep tanks :D

The filter section is easy to remove for cleaning and the best part is the vacuum is very very gentle therefore does not disturb the sand bed much but strong enough to pull the debris out :p

Twice weekly of zym should keep your sand bed clean and sparkling... my tank been running for almost a month now and no diatom/cyano boom.

Compare to my old tank where I only used CS, you will still see diatom booms on the sand bed :eek1:

In my old tank, I used only CS and I still get diatom booms every month or so as I think CS is only good for removing the diatoms on the surface but with Zym, it remove those in the sand bed.

IMO, using both is the key to a clean sand bed and thus' avoiding nutrient build-up in the sand bed
