Ed's 195 LeeMar Build

In the past couple of months, i have been battling algea (dino, cyano and some hair) So, I have decided to slowly take the source of nutrient my sand. I have been vacuuming it out slowly on each water change, hoping one day itll be all gone and turn it into a barebottom.

here is a crappy shot before i started the sand removal.

Jeff!! I know, thanks to you. Great job on the tank and stand. It made it easy for me to set it up.

How's you new tank?

It's doing good I guess; coming along kinda slow so I know how you feel. Are you planning on making a cover to keep in those wrasses?

Jeff,

I have a tank cover, i just havent place it over the tank. Maybe i should. My Super Male Flame in my frag tank disappeared a couple week ago and cant seem to find it.
 
That's a bummer about the Super Male Flame, man... Hope you find it.

How's the sand removal going? I went ahead and removed mine like you suggested. I prefer BB any way... that's how I had my 156 setup and I never had any algae, dino's, etc... Go figure. LOL
 
What a night...

What a night...

After working late last night, i got home to relax and unwind.. ate dinner and sleep early just so i could be well rested for a big meeting tomorrow.

2:30am, a loud gurgling sound woke me up and it was coming from my main tank. So, i immediately jumped out of bed and found my tank was extremely low of water. The water level was at least 5 inches lower than normal. Huge panic in the fear of flooding the house. Luckily, all the water was contained inside the sump. SO GLAD I HAVE A HUGE SUMP.

Anyways, after looking around. I found my ATB Flowstar 3200 had stopped and guessing my check valve failed as well. I opened and cleaned the pump and was able to run it outside of the water, but as soon as i reconnect it to my plumbing. I would not even spin. I could feel it vibrate, but not spin.

So, after meessing with my pump for 45 mins, i decided to my Mag12 and a hose as a temporary return until i get this pump fix...

back in bed at 4.. alarm clock at 5. what a night..

All the sand are out.. just an hand full here and there. and you are right, i like it better being barebottom. the tank looks so much cleaner. all the algea are gone and everthing looks good again.

Now, i just have to buy another pump.

Seriously, sorry to hear about last night's tank scare. That shocks me about the skimmer, too. Hmmm... I bet you putting on fumes, right about now...
 
WOW.. talking about customer service.. Victor from ATB already called me and have a plan on fixing my Flowstar 3200 return pump.
