Ed's 195 LeeMar Build

Thanks Jim, how your tank doing? i still need to make it your way again and check it out. Also got that 6100 for you, just let me know when you need it.

Thanks Bean, yeah, suprising that they get along so well now. my issue the bully of the tangs is the Yellow tang. he still harassed both the purple and sailfin. I like corals, but love fishes. After all its a fishtank. Also one of the main reason is my skimmer was pulling some much out that my nutrient too low. my corals started to pale out. Since i added all the fihses, it colored back up.

Thanks Jar, I try to make my sump area easier for me to service and my tank area free of dead spot. this is why i designed my rocks and sump this way. if you think my tank is clean looking, you should see Jim's tank (gimmito)

Sup Ed,

Lmk if you are going to make any BAR meetings, otherwise I'll try to swing by your work one of these days.

I was just curious what's the advantage of putting a 90 elbow on your return pump. BTW, beautiful tank and very clean setup.

Dang. I almost forgot about my thread.

Hey John - sorry for late response man. I will try to post some pictures next week. The tank went through lots of up and down. From alk issue, to ick and fluke. But now it's in recovery and hoping to restock this week.

Jeff - the elbow on the return pump is to prevent the flow star from pulling air. With the amount of water movement and amount of water it is pulling. The water column creates a vortech swirl and sucks lots of air. This forces it to pull water from the bottom. Simple and effective.

Lawrence - no problem man. Sorry it took so long. Thanks for helping me out on getting my fishes. appreciate man.

Hey no problem I still haven't got to frag the your piece

Sorry about the personifer but I have a very sweet Scott's fairy for you

Do not you think to put the aquarium sand?

If the answer is no saddle, why?*
Thank you in advance for your answer.

I had sand in the beginning. But with the amount of flow that I had, I needed bigger sand grains. So, I used a 3 to 5 mm grain sand. But the problem with larger sand was detritus tend to settle down on it. Eventually cause high nutrient. So, I removed it.

Now it looks cleaner. Less nutrient and algae.

I am sorry to hear about the fish deaths. How did the coral do? That green and purple plate is incredible. Is that sand back in the main tank again or an old pic?

Hey john,

The corals were ok. I bought a few fishes recently and one had some kind of fungus. It killed lots of my fishes. It was weird. After turning the UV back on. The spread stopped and didn't lost any fish.

That plate is the Jedi monti. It started as a little frag then grew fast. Now I may have to trim it. It's becoming a canopy over other corals.

This shots were taken a few days ago. I added the sand a while back, along with some bio media. I felt that I didn't have enough bio filtration before. After adding the sand, the tank stabilized and corals started growing.
