Any ideas? He's only a few inches long... very thin. I thought he died since I never saw him, but now he's out and about more... enough for me to actually snap some pics.

The fact you are asking this question automatically rules me out as to any help what so ever without me googling images for the next hr. Your much more knowledgable then most on here, I can think of 3 people on here that I'm sure know the ID

I was told it is an ocellate eel blenny, Blennodesmus scapularis. But I wasn't sure, because the yellow spots all over its body threw me off, since the VERY few pics I found online didn't have them.

Looks more like Congrogadus hierichthys, Congrogadus spinifer or possibly in the genus Haliophis such as Haliophis aethiopus but it lacks spots.

A thread just popped up with somebody who just bought an ocellate eel blenny from divers den. Looks exactly like yours.

Edit: nevermind, you already posted in that thread!!

Thanks, but if you notice, the pic he posted has the ocellatus, but no small yellow spots on the rest of the body.
