Electricity & Con Ed

I know I'm not the only one that has seen a reduction in voltage from my local rip off agency called Con Ed. :thumbdown

So if your AC is on a 220 line and not fuctioning properly... it's your local agency reducing power. :headwalls:

Reduction in my AC, Fridge, Koralia's and lights in my home.....

In Boston right now and my office tank went into emergency mode. Lights are all off. Tank temps went up to 84 last I heard. Office cenTral AC went out. Jarrett helped me out but the unit needs to cool down until tomorrow. I feel helpless :(

I know how you feel Doc......:uhoh2:

I hope everyones' tank makes it through without any problems. My tank hit 84 :-(. So far no probles. Making some RO ice cubes today.

Good luck everyone.

What I think is weird is that in AZ I never ever ever had temperature issues even when it was 115 outside, and here I'm having them. I had central air and kept it and 76 and here I have 2 window AC's pumping 60. Maybe the humidity has something to do with it?

My tank only has LR but it's at 84!!!! Put frozen bottles in the sump. Gonna be another 100 day. Stay frosty

AC has been running 24/7 in my family room for days. luckily no power outages buts the electric bill is not going to be pretty. tank has been at 79 +/- 0,5.

@Paul-

Yeah It happen in over 10hrs...at 3pm tank was @ 77 @ 1am tank was 81.5

Not sweating it.. It's the highest my tank has reached all summer. :D

I believe everyone's setting there lights to go off because of the heat. Glad I didnt get rid of my chiller when I switched to LED's. Positve thing about the LED's(no heat).
During this heatwave, the tank reached a max temp of 82.3* Then chiller kicks on at 82.5* and then lights go out. At 83* everything is off including the skimmer pump(Don't want anything on creating heat in the water). Then the only thing running is the main external pump.

I agree with Aldo.. E/C is going to love us this summer...... GL Everyone.

Well I was in CT Friday and was going to return today, I was constantly checking in on the tank my controller. On Saturday we go to six flags New England and still while going thru the rides and all I was still checking in on my tank. Around 7 the app just stopped working and I wasnt able to see the specs on my tank, panic sets in... Here I am about 3hrs away and I don't know what's going on in my house, maybe a power outage but who knows.
We go back to CT and I tell the family you know what we should go home tonight this way we can sleep in, instead of waking up real early to go home because my son had to work anyway (you guys all know I was just trying to check on my tank)... So here we go, it's 10pm I set the cruise at about 80mph after running around all day on roller coasters, swimming pools, water rides, the works... Got home and the controller was doing exaclctly what it's supposed to do, take care of my tank... The temp was 78.2, I was so relieved... Hope we all get thru this okay.

well my turn....,
went on vacation last week, left everythng pretty well automated
auto water topoff
four auto feeders
dosers well filled
fastward to friday morning
My office called me to inform me thatthe central air is pushing out 90 degree air and the temp outside was 105
tank temp 85
chiller is not keeping up with the rising heat in the office
turns out that the fan under the stand stopped working, so the chiller was overheating without any exhaust. In other words highly in efficient. AC guy (thank to Jarrett) came around 6 but couldnt fix.
Saturday tank temp 86.1 AC cleaned but did not turn on as con ed knocked out one phase
Then my moms called me to tell that the pond pumps shut down as well
At this point with urging from Jarrett to abandon the vacation early I decided it was the only thing to do
Arrived in NY at midnite, tank temp was 87.1, all the lights were off and the office temp was 110
I opened all the windows and the door. then bought 7 bags of ice and dumped them in the sump
tank temp dropped to 86
I left the front door open but locked the gate and went home
Sunday morning
tank temp 85.5 dumpped 3 frozen gallons of ice into the sump
temp dropped to 84
then I went home to tend to the pond
found all my large fish dead. 21 of them
In the beginning of the spring i counted 52 fish
I took the pumps apart and cleaned them
did a 50% water change
back to the office
tank temp 83, then I dumpped another seven bags of ice into the sump
temp dropped to 82.5, went home but left the door open and gate down
then it rain really hard, outside temp dropped to 83
went back to the office, tank temp down to 81
brought a fan from home and placed aiming at the chiller
locked the doors went home
This morning tank temp was 79!
AC was fixed around 3 pm
tank temp now steady at 78!
Some mortalities
large granulosa from reef bum died, efflo 90% dead
no fish loss :)
That was my weekend....

Harry, sorry to hear about all your problems. Hopefully the high temps won't have any long term detrimental affects on fish and corals
