Elias' 400 gallon Australian reef tank

A bit about me: I live in Australia, Melbourne, and I’m currently in year 12, which makes me 18 years old (this September). I have always had a passion for aquariums and couldn’t imagine myself without one. I started off with freshwater but saltwater tanks were just something I couldn’t keep away from. I have been planning this tank for a long time and finally it has come! It is a berlin system with a deep sand bed. My aim was to create a shallow sps reef tank and I decided that right from the start and still remains the same.

Aquarium profile: The aquarium is custom built glass tank. Being a standard rectangular shaped with the following dimensions: the tank itself is 10ft long, 3ft wide and 2ft high (about 400 gallons, 1600 L). But there is a back cavity of about .5ft, because everything is housed in the back. The stand has been specially engineered since we are building our home I had the opportunity to start totally from scratch and plan everything out, which is good although problems will always arise, no matter what (IMO)… Only the front of the tank is viewable since it is in the wall and behind is the garage for all the equipment.

Equipment list:

Lighting: the lighting is 2x 5ft MG-1500 aqua one units with 14k bulbs at the moment

Circulation: I have four return pumps in the back, and 1x6205 tunze and 3x6105 hooked up to a 7095 multi controller.

Filtration and other equipment:
-There are 3 custom made skimmers. They don’t look big but are worth their weight in gold which are powered by sicce syncra silent 3.0 pumps.
-The chiller is an aqua one 1.5 hp
-One Ruwal Calcium reactor
-3x Fluval Tronic heaters
-auto drain/top up

Its not fully ready yet but water and rock is going in soon, and the rest of the equoment....

its still cycling through. the skimmers are pulling some smelly foam. but i want an sps dominated tank, patience i know........

The substrate is getting blown away by the return pumps and this system is ment to be a
'dsb' but I'm not liking it... When the substarte is more established if get sturd up it will create problems right? Anyone have any sugestions on what I should do?

Its been a while and i wish i had a better update but we just got the key for our house and i have just started breaking down my tank and adding corals to the system. These photos are off my phone but when i add more coral and fish ill take some photos off the camera. Tell me what you think of the aquascape, just ignore the reflection of our house in the back ground...
