How do you clean, or do anything in those tanks? they look to be only a few inches from the ceiling?
And is that above your DT? I hung a frag tank over my sump from the ceiling. But it's no where near as impressive as your set up.

believe or not, on a ladder, I can reach inside those divided QT tanks, it's no fun though, they are over a 180g QT, both are separate systems with separate sumps/skimmers, located adjacent to the DT

Hi Elliott, happy 4th!,...just watched the video,...again!! I'm think about getting some Gorgonias, do you do anything special as far as feeding for yours? Have they grown since you added them?

Hi Rick, Happy 4th!

Gorgonians (all photosynthetic) have grown rather slowly, I feed in addition to fish feeding...

3 times per week: Reef Nutrition: Oyster feast, Roti feast and Phyto feast,

daily per hour while lights on: Two Little Fishes Acro Power (amino acids)

daily one time feeding Argent Cyclopeeze

Wow,...did you have premonition I was going to post to your thread? lol. Sounds like the gorgonias are a bit of a challenge in the care department but really give the tank a reef feel. I have plenty of time on my hands so think I give them a try. The empty tank is a before/after surprise. ---Rick

gorgonians along with the neon green napthia I really like, give the back and forth motion with a wave box and make the look more natural IMO, just stay with the photosynthetic types :thumbsup:

yes, TLF AP is on a auto feeder, it slowly drips each hour while the lights are on, I go through a bottle each month, I used to feed at night but new research demonstrated corals fed during daylight grew much faster

I'll more than likely have a few more questions for you once I move forward with buying some Gorgonias. Like you said, they really give the tank a reef look. I'll need some rather tall ones as my tank is 42" deep. Think I order from Tom's down in the keys,...I believe he will get what ever you want/need, and they don't cost very much either. Agree the neon green napthia are great additions. Do you know how big they will grow and have you tried fragging yours,....oops here I go with the questions again.---Rick

I bought 3' gorgonians from KP Aquatics in Tavernier, FL, very nice people, highly recommend them, who is Tom's?

Napthia frags very easy, I just cut with a scissor, attach with use of a little superglue and loosely support attachment with a rubber band to a small rock, will attach in a few days, then cement rock where you want, grows in very high or low light as well

Hey Elliott,...I was looking at the start of your thread where you were talking about your rock leaching PO4's. I have the same problem,....I think I will have to pull my rock AGAIN and run it through some LC. How would you suggest I go about this? Do I just run a circulation pump with the rock and LC in a garbage can? If I want to lower the PO4 in my tank on occasion I use a specific amount of LC and run it through a 10 micron sock, so how much LC would I use for this method?
My rock continually has GHA growing, and only on the rock,....nothing on the sand bed or glass. I'm hoping to pull the rock one last time, as it's a real pain to do.

yes, place your rock in a garbage can, fill with tank water, use a submersible pump to run water over a a 10 micron sock, use a peristaltic pump or gravity drip LC (diluted 20:1 with RO/DI) into the sock until it clogs from LC precipitate, keep changing sock until no more precipitate or phosphate levels are undetectable

since there is no livestock to worry about you can drip much faster, but you will be changing out the socks faster as well

I have a Holothuria sea cucumber, don't think it's very productive as a cuc, I was a little leary putting him in the tank as they can be quite polluting if they die, however it's been hardy and slowly growing
