Stopped there today for a couple items. Employee who I’ve never seen there before who seemed to know his fish stuff basically said they’re trying to make their SW livestock better. I said, it would be nice if they had a frag tank. Like the Fenton store and he seemed to indicate that was the goal. Hopefully, things for us west county peeps get better there.

The Fenton store told us that stores who do really well with saltwater can receive an elevated status. When they got their status upgrade they also received their frag tank.

Yep, I heard the same thing. I’m hoping Ellisville is trying to up their game.

Before that store opened, the had a Manchester store and a Chesterfield store. The one in Chesterfield was so so when it came to SW. The Manchester store was fantastic. Then, they combined them into Ellisville and it went down the toilet. It’s been hit or miss since.

I miss all the LFS we had in St. Louis county back in the day…Andy’s Animal House, Seahorse Pet Shop, Clayton Pet Emporium, Inland Aquatics, Beldt’s, Pet Marketplace, Tropical World (still there but no longer has SW), Aqua World (still there but little to no SW), Saltwater City. I’m sure I’m leaving a bunch out.

My first live rock in 1990 was, believe it or not, California live rock that Shelby at Sea Horse ordered from his supplier for me.

You bring up great memories. I grew up one block from Beldts and road my bike there all the time! That's where I grew my fish keeping passion.
