Elos 120XL REEF

Hey all,

I wanted to create this thread to share with you guys my experience in this hobby and to keep track of the progress of my new Elos 120Xl. This is my second build thread; my first one was an acrylic 48x26x20 peninsula tank. I wasn't happy with the tank and the direction it was going in so I wanted to go back to glass and actually having a rimless tank. Here was my previous tank"¦pretty empty haha.

Back to the Elos, I had a lot of other rimless glass tanks but nothing compared to the quality of the Elos. I honestly would never get rid of the 120XL I have now unless it's for a bigger Elos. Here it was when I got it sitting in my living room"¦

Don't have a current picture yet but I'll post later.

I'm also a big fan of exotic and rare fish, its nice having corals and it's cool to look at but I take joy in keeping fish that you normally don't see everyday. My current fish list that I have now"¦
"¢ 1x Helfrichi Firefish (Hopefully will have a group of 3-5)
"¢ Pair of eating Leopard wrasse
"¢ 3.5" Black Tang from the French Polynesia

"¢ 3" Female Crosshatch trigger (Hoping for a small male to pair her up with soon)

"¢ 3" Interruptus Angelfish ( My pride & joy LOL.)

In the future I'm hoping to add a single or a pair of Bandit angels and a few nice wrasses.

A little background story about my interruptus angel, I received her (not sure male or female just gonna say it's a female since there isn't a lot of blue dots on the face) last Tuesday. She started off with Koji from Blue Harbor in Japan, made her way to the States and was at a facility for 2 months before she was sent to me. She was offered to me and I couldn't turn down the opportunity of owning such a beautiful fish. Here she is at the facility before she was sent to me"¦
She was shipped to me in a box that weighed 33 lbs just for one 3" fish LOL. She was also tripled bagged, best packaging I've ever received.

In the acclimation bucket for 3 hours.

and of course the "œfish in hand" photo.

and finally in her new home kinda"¦had to section off my tank to keep her safe from my black tang. I will try to catch and isolate my black tang before I release the angel into the main tank. One of the best specimen of angels I have ever received, it was very active from the get-go and within 5 minutes of her being in the tank. She was aggressively chowing down on some frozen mysis and nori.

Killer tank. I would love to have one someday. Also not an angel fish person, but that one is amazing. Another nice tank in EG that I didn't know about (its probably in walking distance of my house like every one else!).

Wow, beautiful man. May I ask where you got interruptus and a 2 inch black tang from?

Thanks, I got the black tang from Pacific East Aquaculture awhile back when it was 2", now he's about 3.5". I actually had two but the smaller (coin size) didn't make it when i transferred tanks. As for the interruptus, I'm not sure if he wants me to disclose his name but I'm sure he will say something if he saw this thread.

Thank you, your cadlight looks great as well. It might be walking distance, i live along waterman rd haha.

Its hit or miss but this comes along maybe 15-20 fish a year from koji if he decided to shipped it to US. My 2 bandit nips on my corals even though its well feed but its worth it but this guy is much harder to get unless you are willing to pay 4k for it. This supposed to be in my tank but i am too broke so sold it a lot cheaper than what i got it for 😔 at least its on a right tank.

Here are some current pictures of the tank, sorry for the bad quality (iPhone camera) and the egg crates blocking the view.

yes, i know the doors are off LOL. I'm missing 2 screws for it. Gotta stop by Lowes later.

Here's who I got it from Robert, he has spoken haha. Thanks again Lawrence!

Some coral shots (not much but a bunch of frags) with the iPhone 6. Its so hard to get good pictures and accurate colors with the phone. Does anyone have any suggestion for apps to edit photos?

I swear two of those hammers are true gold haha not green haha.

left side of the tank.
A curious interruptus.

Also a full tank shot

The interruptus is out now and surprisingly no one bothered her at all. I actually left to the bay area yesterday and came back this morning and somehow she got free. But I'm happy that she's doing okay and I don't see any aggression from the other fish towards her.

Love that angel and your aquascape!

Thanks Tim! The tank is still pretty bare might have to hit you up soon for some sps since you have most of the old school pieces. Looking for pearlberry and a few others.
