Elos 120XL REEF

Can you tell me what material you used to fuse the Tonga branches together? Did you use real tonga branches or the Real Reef Tonga branches? Either way, your aquascape looks great!

I didn't use anything special to fuse them together maybe like 4 zip ties. What I did was I made two bases on each side first then I used long branches to connect them together then I used my creativity for the rest. Its actually really easy to make nice aquaecapes with the branch rock. I used the Real Reef Tonga branch, I couldn't find any real Tonga branch at the time but I'm glad I went with the Real Reef stuff.

Ahh, so the tonga branches are just sitting on the base with no epoxy or glue? How many lbs of Tonga branch are you using? Also, do you have a cover for your tank? I use a cover for my rimless but I am just sick of looking at it as it ruins the rimless factor.

Yes, no epoxy or glue. I just have to be very careful when glueing frags to the rocks. I probably have about 40-45 lbs of it, I thought I needed more when I bought it but it was just enough. It's funny that you ask, I do have a cover over it from brs. I put the cover on when I leave the house or before I go to bed but when I'm looking at the tank I take it off. It does take away the look of the rimless and I perfer not to have the cover but I don't want fish jerky.

Haha, that's exactly when my cover is on, either when I leave my house or go to bed. On a side note, do you know if Kevin aka backinthegame is back in the game?:)

I don't know, I actually never met him, maybe someone else on here will let you know. Im not sure if most people here actually know who I am haha. I know most of them because I used to work for a lfs here about 3 years back.

Here is my tank currently with the cover over it, doesn't look bad but can't compare to the rimless look haha.

I also like hammers, hopefully one day i will have the whole tank or maybe just half full of hammers and frogspawns haha.

A few updates, I removed my mp60 for a maxspect gyre. I ordered mine through Exotic and it got here within 2 days. Its been running in my tank for a few days now and I love it. First impression of the pump was that its a lot bigger than I thought but at least its a 1.5" bar instead of a 4" circle. The packaging was a nice touch as well.

I tried to place it vertically but I wasn't to happy with it. If I went higher than 30% it would blow sand into a corner and the water surface wasn't really breaking. So I placed it horizontally about half inch from the surface which is pretty cool, it doesn't suck any air. Right now I have it on pulse mode at 30% and its very quiet which is what I was really looking for.

Overall, I'm very happy with the pump and do recommend it. It doesn't take away the rimless look even with the wire in the water. I will post a FTS in the next post so you guys can see how small and hidden it is.

Since I couldn't make it to the NVR swap, I stopped by O st. and bought myself some sps frags LOL.
Blue Bonsai (green polyp is retracted)

Gold/yellow milli (can't capture the true color of this with the iPhone)

Green Dragon (has yellow polyps)

Sunset milli (needs to color up)

ORA Birds of Paradise

A milli that has tons of potential

Paletta Pink Tip (no pink tip yet)

ORA Hawkins (was a big piece but I accidentally broke it in half)

Here's the FTS that I promised earlier. You don't really notice the gyre in the corner.

Also, released my other xhatch trigger into the display after a brief QT just for observation. It was doing great in QT and the previous owner had her for awhile. They're both about 3.5", smallest I've ever owned. Hopefully one will turn male soon.

Why did you get rid of the mp60?

The mp60 was a bit of an overkill for my tank, never ran it higher than 50%. I didn't mind running it at 50% but it was so noisy compared to the gyre. At 30% the gyre is able to produce the same amount of flow (wider flow as well) as the vortech at 50%. I couldn't place any corals in front of the mp60 now I'm able to stock up a bit more. Also, the gyre seems to be a bit more sleek compared to the mp60. I'm just keeping my mp60 as a back up just incase the gyre dies on me.

The crosshatch was a male but switch to female [emoji17]

It was a great looking Male too from the picture you showed me! I think one of them is starting to turn male, the two fins are getting darker in color, not yellow anymore. The tail is more of an orange too not so much yellow either.
