Emster's no powerheads allowed reef

Amazing tank Emmett. The colours are out of this world and everything looks so clean. Does your tank look the same to the naked eye?

Depends on who you ask:D Thanks for the kind words. I really don't do much to keep it clean. Once a week, usually longer I will stir the sand bed at the glass only to keep it white looking. The clean up crew does the rest.

Very beautiful tank... what K are your MH bulbs?

I believe all Radiums are considered 20k. Pictures are taken under radiums only no actinic bulbs are on when the halides are on. I believe these radium 400watt bulbs are the best for bringing out the colors and growth.

You're welcome. Btw, what camera are you using? And i don't know if you've already mentioned this but what sand do you use? I'm obsessed with having clean white sand:inlove:in my reefs. It's an OCD thing :)

I'm using a Canon 40d and a canon a720is. The sand is CaribSea Aragamax select. For keeping the top clean make sure you have good flow and get a bunch of scarlet hermits they are the best at cleaning the top. I too have an obsession with clean sand :D

Simply Stunning!

I do have a question for you...how does your Copperband behave with all of that fleshy LPS you have in your tank?

I have been contemplating adding one to my tank but I have far too much fleshy LPS to risk! :D

Yours corals look amazing.
Could you maybe name them on a separate post for guys like me that don't know what is what?
Thanks

Thanks Emster. Time for me to go do some camera related research.

My copperband is great never touches a thing, its my Tangs I have to watch. Probably wont be adding anymore tangs in the future except for maybe a hippo. If you get a copperband try and get one thats been in someones tank, if you have to buy from a fish store do not buy one unless you see it eat frozen mysis or it will be dead in a year

Not sure how much you want to spend but I would just start off with a new point and shoot like my a 720is. I would probably buy one of the new ones that you can put underwater just drop it in the tank and start taking pics. If you buy a SLR like my 40d it gets expensive fast $600.00 just for a macro lens. I find the cheap point and shoots take very good pics and so much easier to use and faster to pick up and start shooting

Thank you for the name on that coral. I appreciate it

You are welcome. If you are going to buy one of those I would only buy one from one that has been propagated and not a wild one from the ocean. Trust me I've spent a lot of money until I got this one from a friend out of his tank. Also I believe ORA now sells them.

And more pics....
