Encrusting Monti - taking over

Sorry if this is a n00b question...

I have an encrusting Monti - purple with pink polyps, that is just over growing all my other sps in that that area of the tank (Orange Poci, and green acro). What can I do to draw battle lines, and un-encrust it in critical areas? Is it as simple and brutal as just slicing it back with a scalpel, or is there some trick to it? Thanks for your help.

Tough one, maybe try putty over the top of it but eventually it will grow back. I'd love to see a pic?

I'll be getting my toolkit out and trying to cut back later tonight. Thanks all for your suggestions

Well I still haven't cleaned it up but I get the picture. Don't be kind...

Speaking of pictures here is one. I haven't figured out the color balance thing so much. Not much of a photographer. There's only room for so many hobbies:twitch:

let it encrust the branches then sell the ultra rare branching colony on ebay for a small fortune

my encrusting montis i usually put on a seperate rock in the sand bed.when they outgrow the rocks i frag. for the one in the picture you can use putty and slow it down

I mix kalk paste into a thick paste and put it on the montie where I want it gone. leave it there for 5 minutes and no more montie. Stops the spread for a month or so then I have to do it again.
