so far so good. I have it on a css65.

How is the mod working out for you? Can you give some more info on before and after? I have a CSS65 and am interested in the mod. More specifically, after the mod, did you have to lower the water level in the neck and if so by how much? Did you cut off the top layer of needles and use black zip ties? How many layers of the mesh can you fit on it? I see the CSS65 NW is quite small.

Thanks.

The bubble was smaller then before and I did have to lower the water level. I have it right at the clear line and it was doing fine until I messed with it. You know what they say “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke”. I cut the top needles and really regret it.

Before cutting the top needles I only had one layer and used fishing lines to tie it.

One flaw I found with the skimmer is the output tube. I think it’s too small and that is the reason many people are having flooding issue. Once I have time, I’m going to put a 1” â€"œ 2” tube for the output and see if that fixes my issues. It’s a good thing I didn’t buy this skimmer and only traded for it.

So I should not mess with the needles just add a layer of mesh and see what happens. My CSS65 is heavily modded, I cut off the bottom 3" of the body so it would fit in my sump, as a result it never had the overflow issue because the outlet was gone.

When you said the water was at the clear line, what line exactly is it?

I would try to add it without cutting the needle wheel and see how that works.

I might cut the bottom like you and see what happens.

Be careful since if the bottom is cut there is no adjustment of water level in the skimmer much (I use air injection to have some adjustment), so the skimmer must be submerged in the water deep enough.

Can you clarify what you meant by water at the clear line?

On the neck of the collection cup there is a clear line. When I get home I'll post a pic.

I guess I can't cut the bottom out. My sump level is about 5 inches. I'll just increase the pipe size instead and see how that works out.

I just completed my mesh mod. I cut all the needles and copied Lak and used fishing line to tie the mesh down. I did three layers of mesh. So far it looks good but its only been running for a few minutes. I also drilled out the air hole a little bigger since i had it all taken apart. The bubbles are very tiny.

Which skimmer?
