Eric's 300Gal Build!

Do you have some sort of a rim/bracing for your sump?

The glass for the sump is 3/8" thick and it will only be fill up about 12-14 inches so I should be okay since I will also have baffles in it that will hold the glass together. I can always euro brace it but I don't think it will be necessary.

What do you guys think?

You are right. I totally forgot about the baffles. That will add a lot of strength.

Spend all day working on the stand and canopy today. Finished all the molding (might add molding on the left and right corner of the stand and canopy), filled all the nail holes with wood filler and sanded everything with 220 grit sand paper. I still need to sand a few spots I missed but nothing major.

I also filled my sump to check for leaks. Don't mind the nasty water, that's just our irrigation water.

Suffered a little setback. Last night while I was working on the stand I notice my sump had a huge crack in the bottom panel. This happen within minutes because I went inside the house and the sump was fine. I then come back out 10 minutes later and the first thing my eyes see is the huge crack on the bottom of the sump. How it happened remains a mystery.

The sump was on garage floor on top of a 3/4" pad of insulation foam. The same spot where it was filled with water for a week. Not sure how it happen but it did and it sucks.

This looks to be the starting point of the crack.

Went ahead and took it apart since it's useless now.

Nope. I checked the foam after taking the tank apart to see if there were any indentation around where it cracked but nothing.

Looks great so far love the stand and canopy. Sorry to here about the sump maybe bottom glass was to thin would think would need to be min 3/4" especially for non tempered glass. I have had 2 glass sumps crack on me I just go with acrylic now.
