ESHINE 48X3W 4G lighting fixture experience

Thanks yh1185... I plan on taking them again at night so I don't get the reflection from my window. I'm happy with the spectrum. My LFS just took on a line of LED's and had them on his 300 gallon show tank. Incredibly bright but the Purple Tang was grey! He had both the blues and the whites on so not too cool. You are right about the fans... totally quiet.

I ordered mine without the controllers. Went with the timers but now I'm wondering if I can use a controller such as the Neptune or Digital Aquatics?

I been looking at these. I wonder if you can control the intensity with a rke

I think the only thing you can do is replace the drivers to make them controllable. It's actually the only think that's hanging me up from buying them. Adds over $200 per unit for their controllers. Otherwise, all on / all off..

748S911,

I went with the Cree. I was told you get about 15% more intensity by Peter at Eshine.

My only issue was that there is no emblem or way to tell what is actually installed. I contacted Peter about this and he assured me I got the cree but he would bring this to his production team. Also, being they are all on or all off, they should have a switch. I guess they feel that the controller does it all. As I ordered mine without the controllers, I am the exception.

Phishguy, I'm confused... Being that they are designed to work with the e-shine controllers don't they already have the dimmable drivers?

I asked them if I could dim them or add controller later and they told me no, that they are different units. I have to assume part of the cost difference is the drivers ability to be dimmed. Who knows. They might have just been saying that so I buy them with controllers?.?.

Glad I read your post, about put an order w Robin as well

Glad I read your post, about put an order w Robin as well

I have been dealing with Robin as well , wonder where they come up with their names, a robin in china , gotta love it. Anyway I am about to order the 60 watt Cree from them for a 16 gallon nuvo. Do you think that is an over kill? Like yourself though I am just excited to get for half the price so I am willing to take gamble. Hopefully I can sell on Craigslist if it doesn't workout. If it is overkill do you have another light that you would recommend from Eshine? Thank you guys much.

BTW What's easiest way to include pic?

flyfisher2, do you think there is enough spread for a 180 gal 72x24x24 with just two lights? I am looking at 2 of these with the bridgelux for my softcoral and zoa tank.

I've been talking to Peter and he said the 4g version is dimmable with a controller like an Apex. I currently use the 3g 25 LED Bridgelux version and haven't had any complaints. I'm currently trying to decided between the Cree or Bridgelux version for a 33L.

our lights can not work with Apex

ghrorick, I'm not sure I can answer that question with certainty. I feel I have enough coverage for just about anything based on the coverage I see front to back and left to right. You are talking about another 12 inches in length which means less lighting on the ends or raise the fixtures which still translates to less lighting. I would be looking for two 36" fixtures. I am very satisfied with the amount of light in the tank right now. Time will tell how the corals respond. I just added some Frogspawn, Hammerhead, and a Dendrophyllia. Wife wants a clam... lets see how these guys do first.

If you are worried about coverage, I'd go with 2 of the 60x3W fixtures. They are a bit longer and will give you more coverage.

On a side note, my order was placed this past week for 2 of their 24x3W Cree fixtures, no dimmer. I'll be sure and post pics when I get them.

-I use that fixture over my 20 g nano for over a year , it's no overkill you will be able to grow SPS , LPS and softy i would place in the more shady area's , even when acro's put on the bottom they will grow fast.

I'm very happy with that fixture , that's why i did ordered me the 48X3 w g4 for my bigger tank with sunrise controller.

"for me the 90 works well since my tank is about 6 inches larger on all 4 sides. I think it really depends on your footprint of your tank compared to the side of the lights. You could also have one 90 for coverage, and one 60 if you want higher light in some places on the bottom. Just a thought"

I can`t decide which fixture, two 60w or one 48x3 w/contoller for a 40b, maybe upgradig to 75g in the near future,
If you were to do it again, would you make the same choice, money wise will be very close, so thats not a problem, just not sure if the 60w is enough light for acros.

You`re opinion is highly valued,
thanks in advance

Yes i'd make the same choice. I like the auto dimming and control that i have. I'm sure 2 60w or the 48X3w would be fine to keep acros. These are still 3w cree LED's that are run at 2w's, which is pretty much what all the 3w Cree LED systems do. When i asked eshine about which one to go with, they suggested the 60w's because of coverage/spread. I figured with the 48X3w i'd get more LED's for the price, and a controller out of it. So for me the value was much higher on the 48X3w and the spread wasn't too big of a concern for me. If you want even spread throughout the tank and such, you might want to get the 60w. Otherwise, i don't see any reason not to go with the 48X3w + controller. Hope that helped.

-Today DHL came with the 48X3W fixture i was waiting for.
When i assemble the driver to the fixture i saw , that i couldn't plug the electrical cord into the driver .....

-This is a bit fustrating when the components have to come all the way from china :worried:.
-I directly sended eshine a mail with the problem this noon , gonna see if i will get an reply in the morning....
Can wait to plug it in .....
