Euro-Reef Eheim NW Thread

LB, you should get a new ER. Just do it! Life isn't a dress rehersal. :D

It's a beauty all right, right down to the matching drain ball valve and acrylic welding. That skimmer is about 5' tall.

Construction wise, it beats the Deltec that's in the garage and the acrylic is a slight step above my H&S. The gray protions of the H&S skimmer are PVC sheet, and I will have to say that the sheet work on H&S is superior. PVC seems to be more scratch resistant and easier to clean. The European PVC-U has a thinner wall thickness than US PVC, so the H&S inherently has less restrictions.

You know, it will need it's own powerstrip. :)

I wonder why they face the pump outlets up instead of down- there's an aweful lot of wasted reaction chamber space there....

yes eheim is coming out with their own needle wheel pumps. which sounds really odd to say b/c its their pump in the first place.

zoom are you saying that ER is using the ones made by eheim. If true, thats probably not a bad thing.

I don't know for sure but looks just like it , i'm just saying Eheim had some pump with the NW as a kit in one of the shows not long a go.

tacocat - yeah i could get a new one i guess. what was the smallest the eheims are coming on?

but i could be the 1st to get a 1250 and post how that runs if i keep the RC80...it's a trade off. heck i have the very 1st RC80 ever to come out of ER so why not be the 1st to get one w/ an eheim :D

dont' know if i could wait that long. i'm ready to fire the ER back up.

In the H&S forum, I was reading through a thread in which Brian was saying that eheim got their NW from H&S, or something to that affect. So if ER is getting them from eheim, that would mean they are H&S impellers.

But IMHO, these are ER's NW's. The rumors about the eheim's with needle wheels are only for the 1250 models. ER has been saying they're coming out with things for a while now. I'm sure they didn't "just use a kit".

ER also ran eheims in the past. Does anyone know which models they used?

The pinwheel on the ER is different from the H&S. Unless H&S changed their design, I do not see how it is possible that they are selling them to Eheim. Or, it just proves that ER is not using the Eheim kit.

IMO, ER uses their own stuff. The air intake, and elbows are the same own they have always used. Furthermore, ER uses a series of nylon spacers which were consistent with what they used on the Sedra pumps too.

If you go back to the picture page, you can see the obvious differences in the PW between the H&S and ER. Plus, the H&S used a stiff plastic, where the ER was much softer and more flexible.

However, the picture of the Eheim PW in the above photo looks more like the ER PW. It does not look anything like the H&S design.

Hey Tacocat, You know we are all waiting with baited breath to see pic's of your buddy's new ER. Man that thing is stuck in my head. Nice skimmer, can't wait to see the foam....happy reefkeeping.

It will probably be a couple of weeks. The skimmer will be supporting several fish holding tanks at a store. The tanks haven't been setup quite yet.
