I was just going to post about your pumps looking funny there , But I guess you have found out that they are upside down. LOL

Try taking the ball vlave off and put a Gate valve on there.. It worked for me ...

Ok here is a question for ya I have a RS 250 in sump with 2 x SP-3 sedra's. Can I make this into a External skimmer. I have the gate valve and the tee like the RC models would need to just glue them and get the unions for the pumps right is there another pump I need to buy other then the Sedr'a that is running in my sump.

Just curious but have the rust issues been fixed on the new sp pumps? I am in the market to upgrade my skimmer but need reassurance that the rust issue has been resolved.

whooohoooo just got in my cs-80 and put it in the sump. now i can start adding critters to the tank.

it went together like a dream and was a snap to start up.

I have an RS-100 skimmer. Is there an older model designation for this unit? I see a lot of model designators that I think are old and I don't recognize them.

So did mine have a predecessor and what was it?

Regards,

Pat

I have a cs80 I was wondering if a wet skim or a dry skim is better and how to achieve that which way do you need to move the riser pipe to get a dry skim

Wet or dry is the big debate. It's really up to you, but I run my skimmer wet. You would adjust the riser down to get drier skimmate and move it up to get wetter skimmate. HTH

My 2cents on the wet or dry Skimming

Depends on the load of your tank and the skimmer you have. If you have a 200 gallon system and you skimmer is rated for 300, skimm dry. If you are pushing it like getting a skimmer rated for the 200, skimm wet.

I Have a RC500 rated for 500 gallons and my system is only 400 so I skimm a little dry. I dont want to pull everything out of the water, some fish and corals need food that is in the water.

Hey 240-Reefer,

I see you have a needle valve on your tube there. Just curious to see what it's for and does it helps performance. Thanks.

Really what beautiful work in that mounster!!!!! :eek2: :eek1:

I have a RC 180 and also it do a very good work in my aquarium. ;)

Congrats!!! :D :)

I am slightly confused with all the skimmers with different names such as CS, RS, and RC. Are they simply older names for similar models?

Seriously considering a euro-reef(or deltec, or BK) for my next tank..Custom 60g with 56g sump and 30g fuge.

Thanks!

Chris
