What is difference between rs100 and cs100? the cs100 is like 400 dollars, ouch.. why double in price btw from the cs80 to the cs100?

I am looking to replace my asm g1x for something a little larger, my budget is 300 tops and thats pushing it. this rs100 be a good fit for a 90g with 30g sump tank? or would something like a asm g3 be better? I do not know alot about skimmers, just what I read on reefcentral here.. heard this octopus one mentioned a few times?

thanks all

Straight from the Euro-Reef.com

RS= Made with cell cast acrylic tube and glued to 1/4" cast acrylic sheet material.

CS= Made with cell cast acrylic tube and hot air welded to 3/8* thick PVC sheet material.

So it looks like the CS is built a little better and is sturdier.

There is no reason that I can see to spend the extra money on the CS over the RS.

I would go with the RS100 over an ASM any day. The pump is better and even the RS100 should be of significantly better quality then the ASM. I have no experience with the reef octopus skimmers, but I believe that they do not come with instructions and have no customer support (I could be wrong, and if I am I am sure that the octopus gurus will correct me :D).

I have owned several different brands of skimmers (MRC,deltec, ASM, Remora Pro, Prism, Euro-reef) and the Euro-Reef is the one that impressed me the most.

Thanks DocG, I saw that the material was different, just figured there had to be something more to it, I will pick up an rs100 then, thanks again!

Question about the CS 250 euro reef

Question about the CS 250 euro reef

I have a few questions in reference to the skimmer that i have bought a few months ago.
I'm currently running the CS 25o with the dual pumps. Is it odd to be cleaning it every second day? Just curious When i had my beckett going i never got the gunk that the Euro reef has taken out.

I'm wonderign if the CS 250 is enough for my tank I haver a 170 gal BB with a 20 gal refugium and a 35 gal sump. The refugium has a 3 " sand bed and Macro algae along with I have 10 Mangroves in the over flows sucking extra nutrients in the water as its passing thur.

I'm still pulling lots of crap of dark dark green and black crap. I hardly feed and when I do feed`Its OSI flakes , Mysis Shrimp, Blood worms soaked in Selcon. In the tank I have for live stock
lanvender tang 7"
kole tang 4-5"
2 orange line chroms 4-5"
2 clowns
4 fire fish
2 PJ cardinals
midas goby
algae blenny
psyhicalic mandrin
royal gramma
2 blue linkia's
3 britttle stars, red,leopard, orange
assorted snails turbo's
3 cleaner's

I thought about running Ozone to help out pulling stuff out. any advice.

I have thought about gettign rid of the lavender tang and the orange line chromis
1 peppermint

asm-

I run (2) CS 8-2's on my 120 ( The CS 180 replaced them) and I think they are about right. I would say yours may be boarder line. If you dont have the gate valve mod on yours that will help you skim a little more effecient so that may help.

My Cs 8-2's have the same 8" body as yours does but they are only 24" tall not 30".

Mine is 30 " tall with dual pumps SP-3's and I have the gate valve on there too.

see if I run wet I'm not getting lots of excess nutrients out of the tank unless i run dry with the air wide open.

Hey there Euroreef What size of pump would you recommend on my cs 250 i have SP-3's was thinking or doing a bigger pump.

or should I keep it and ream out the Air hole's

I'm not Jeff, but I'd ream out the venturi and look at upgrading to the sp4's. They are far and away better tan the sp3's.

Sell off the sp3's and do the upgrade. Or maybe wait for the Ehiems. They should be out by fall.

Jeff (euroreef) -

Any complaints yet about the new impellers? They seem to draw more air, but the longer more narrow pegs are brittle. They want to snap off at the base. Not nearly as robust as the original.

I've got a quick question for all of you experienced Euro-reefers. I'm just starting a lightly stocked 120g tank with 30g sump, about 80-100lbs of LR, and a sand bed. I've got 4 b/g reef chromis and a GSP all hanging out in the tank until I'm sure of it's stability. Eventually I would like to have a mixed reef of some SPS (Acros) and LPS as well as a moderate population of small fish (maybe 5-10 more small sized fish). I like my fish to be interchangable with my 24g nano.

I'm looking for a skimmer for this tank, in the $200-$250 range, obviously a used one in that range.

What does everyone think would be the best bang for my buck that I could do in that range? I've seen some euro-reefs, even the mid size ones, go for that price range, but I'm not sure which model would suit me best.

P.S. If anyone has an old one around that fits my needs, feel free to PM me and I'll gladly take it off of your hands!

Thanks EuroReef Club!

I thought about getting the SP 5's for the skimmer

The 5's huh? Yeah. Anything that will bring more air into that 12" chamber. :D

I purchased both of my CS 8-2's used for $320-$350 each. I think they are an awesome bang for the buck. They have been replaced by the cs 180. I have a 120 reef/fowlr with 40 gal sump.

rishma,

The new impellers are not out yet. You must be referring to the H&S impellers that will break if you look at them cross eyed :). They are VERY brittle.

Ours should hit the market soon, I am sending a few BETA's out later this week... (lunchbucket...)

You have GOT to be kidding me. I really thought Euro-Reef would be above posting such ludicrous slander, but I guess not. Boy your company must have really lost something, losing integrity is obvious.

You know, I sold my ER long ago because I wasn't satisfied with the product OR the service when I kindly mentioned that my 12-2RC was underpowered by Sedra 5000's. I practically got a chuckle from ER. I went from a 12" body with dual 5000's to an 8" body with dual Eheims. I'm guessing you can figure out which skimmer won that battle. Now that H&S/Deltec has kicked your butt in the high end, you are now injecting MORE air into a SMALLER body. Still, I always kinda hoped that ER would come out with something comparable to US reefers at less money to make powerful skimmers easier to get - since I figured I must have gotten you on a bad day. I guess not.

Its a shame you would stoop so low to post something like that. Shows your true colors though.

Fliger,

The comment was not meant to be damning or mean spirited. It was made in a light hearted way, hence the smile. I think the H&S skimmers are fanatastic! (I have said that MANY times on this forum) It just happens that I have four of those impellers myself and they have all lost pins (some of them close to 25% of them) because the material is way too brittle.

We have never had a problems with pins breaking on our impellers therefore the individual that posted may have a different impeller.

Please don't try to make something out of this that simply isn't there.

Call it what you want ER but

hardly sounds light hearted, even after your smiley you go on to say they are very, sorry, I mean VERY brittle. I guess I'll chalk it up to a poor choice of words from you. I doubt you really mean it since inevitably you end up copying everything Deltec and H&S does anyway.

I do miss that little emptying valve on the 12-2, however. :)

I guess I lost some respect for your company in this - but I still hope you do come out with a comparable product - priced less than the German makers since you don't have to deal with the ocean or the crappy US Dollar conversion - for the sake of fellow reefers. So copy on .....
