i have it the tube firmly in and the riser tube i have twisted all the way down, placed the sponge slightly above the outtake the air is dialed down its still blwin over, think maybe wait a few hours and then try to re-attach the the collection cup and try again

Let it keep going until it stops .It trying to pull something out . I know when I use putty in the tank my skimmer goes nuts for a few hours . I just leave the cup on until it stops once it stops bubbling over I dump the cup and it should be ready to go .

Yes take the top off if you want . Clear or not its pulling something. I don't know how many times I have had a skimmer go nuts . I have even dumped the clear water back in only to start it all over again.

clkwrk - nice catch buddy! i just checked my RC80 and you guys are right that one is backwards.

jared - can you pull it out or is it glued in for sure??? sorry you'll have to wait till monday. did you email them in case they get to you before monday??

jmoney - i again agree w/ clkwrk again. the skimmers trying to pull something out...let it....it will work when things settle down

i just took it off, i really think it has to do with to much salt being in the water, and an unusual surface tension

hard to be sure all i have is a new thing from coralife and my tank is to thick for it to clamp on, so its not very accuratte but the highest reading was 25 after the water was added and 23 10 minutes ago

hey now lunch,

I tried real hard to pull it out. It is really glued in well. As soon as we figured out the problem I e-mailed euro-reef's warranty dept with a picture of the venturi. So hopefully they will ship one out to me monday.

jmoney - i would invest in a refractometer ASAP! those swing arm hydrometers are not accurate at all. refractometers usually run 40-60bucks...well worth it. i have mine from 4+years ago still

jaredt - sorry that it can't be pulled out. pretty simple human error. after all the skimmers they send out you gotta expect a few that get messed up. glad you are staying calm about it there are way too many people that fly off the handle because they didn't get a response in 1hr on the weekend. might want to call them monday morning and see if you could catch someone quick too. i'm sure they'll take care of you. then you need to post pics of it up and running :D

later

well the colection cup overflowed in about 1 minute this time...sorta lost at what to do

Just let it run. Put some carbon in there and give 24 hours.

The reason why its foaming so much is because there is something in the water column.

I have a question. If you were to add another air line to the venturi, will that increase the air to water ratio making it more efficient? What would be a negative to doing something like that?

Negative. Too much air and the pump will cavitate. ER has done the best they can to get as much air out of the pumps as possible while keeping the pump running good.
