Thanks MasiisaM22 I'll consider 7" then, are you using a RS-180?, if so, would you mind commenting on it's over all performance? are you satisfied?

Cheers!!

More then welcome. I don’t have a RS-180, but a CS8-2 for my 150. The efficacy I am sure is the same. I do like how the RS has the quick release for the collection cup. The threaded union that is on mine is fine. I just like how they updated it. Seems very clean and quicker to remove the cup. My skimmer has worked flawless for the past two years. All I do is clean the collection cup once a week and every 6 months clean the body and pump.

The skimmer is very easy to set up and says adjusted. I set the water level in the body so it is just below the union and it is all set.

I think you will be very happy with your purchase.

I know the idea of doing recirc mods is nothing new...but...

ER RC250
8"x30"
SP5 pump
$1000

ER RS250
8"x30"
SP5 pump
$485

Sure is tempting.

Hey Now all,

It's been a busy couple of weeks but I figured I should update you guys on my backwards venturi. Not sure if you guys remember helping me a few pages back, but my venturi was glued backwards when it arrived.

Jeff and Chip are class acts man. They called me back the same day I called, and got the venturi/volute out to me THAT same day...no questions asked...didn't even need to send the broken part to them. The part got to me just a few days later and bam...I am in business.

Skimmer works like a charm now. Boy do I appreciate those super fine creamy bubbles now after having to see the skimmer run crystal clear water and me being helpless to do anything about it!

So thanks again everyone for helping me out, and thanks to Euroreef for being super fast!

take care,
Jared

i have a cs80 and from what i've read so far .... it seems all er skimmers should sit in appx 6-8" of water? what if it sits lower?
do u raise it?

hey now,

yes raise the sump level. You can either raise by mixing up some new saltwater and filling it in the sump till it is 6-8inches. Mark a line with a marker or piece of tape where you want it say at 7inches then dump the new saltwater in the sump to your marker line.
Or if you have a ball vvalve on your return pump you can use that to adjust the level in your sump if it isnt too far off the mark.

do you auto top off?

threw in new kent super activated carbon and a poly pad, so hopefully in 48 hours whatever is in the water thats keeping my skimmer from working will be gone

A carbon and a poly pad will stop any skimmer from working for a few days.:p

eheim pump

eheim pump

today i test the eheim 1260 on the CS250 compare it to the genx6000.

eheim 1260 show on the flow meter : 10 l/min

genx 6000 show on the flow meter : 16-17 l/min

there is more bubble with the gen x pump then the eheim (it's look more milky)
i will let the pump to run all the night to see how the skimming result will be. IMO the genx pump better then the eheim pump on this skimmer body . i still wait for the new impeller for the genx 6000 and i believe the improvement with the new impeller will be twice then the eheim pump.
again i test it on 30" high skimmer and i can't tell how it will be on different skimmer body but for this size i think to get a better result need to run 2 eheim pump .

i think the appreciate of the gen x pump now will be better then before ;) and anyone that have them can be happy:)

What 1260 is it? A Deltec or H&S?

I'm pretty much sold on the RS250 for my new 180G setup. Nice skimmer for under $500.

Where did your 1260 come from (which manufacturer) or is it diy?I think the fair comparision is to the genx 4100. I think Jeff posted way back that the 1264 would be used on the bigger skimmers when available. I don't think the 1264 has ever seen the states, I think it has been in Europe only.
I want to see the 1260 head to head with the 4100
I also think the eheim pulls more air when the airline is restricted a bit. Keep the updates coming.
Does the 1260 produce a thicker foam? ER eheim will be the 1262 which gph is ahead of the 1260 but I think that has to do with the internal design of the inlet and outlet. I think they are very similiar pumps.

the eheim 1260 it's the original H&S pump .
as i know when i ask the 1262 pull the same air as the 1260.
i try to get 1264 but the pump not available yet and the price about $399. the foam that the eheim make look more like the the sedra spc3 pump. again i will let it run more time and then i will be sure but for now the genx 6000 look better on this skimmer body.
what i am saying it's from what i see and compare between those pump i thought the eheim will surprise me but now i am surprise from the genx pump

In a non NW version, the 1260 is a 635 GPH pump. The Gen-X 6000 is 1587 GPH. I dont think the performance should be that surprising.

i know that but if you look on the H&S A200 it's about the same size of the cs250 and run with 1 eheim 1260 , yes it's external and feed from outside . but i try to test it and compare it.

i have 1 more skimmer cs83 and on this skimmer body i test already 2 pump (genx6000) i am going to try that maybe tomorrow 1 eheim 1genx .

From what ive read the ER Gen X seem to be out performing the Ehiems in the Air catagory also.

Have you tried my gutter guard impeller on the ER Gen-X pumps?

I would like to no how they compare. I have a stock Gen-x 6000 i could use it to test but i understand the ER Gen-x pumps are worked on.

If you could tell me, or show me, what they do to their pumps. (besides the impeller) i chould do a good/fair comparision test. ER NW vs (DIY) GG wheel. My Gutter Guard impeller has out performed everything ive tested. The ER pin wheels seems to be the best by a long shot when it comes to most air. i would like to no how close they are. if you would like to help me test the 2 you could also PM me if you would rather.
