yes weld on 16 is for a more coarser job if you are glueing 2 pieces together and there is a crappy edge you use #16 on it for a finer joint you use #3 hth

i know this has been going on for a couple weeks but i finally found the culprit in my water and it was copper, somehow it got into the water when i originally filled my system with tap water, now i have an ro/di system, but would rather not replace all the water..

it was a poly pad that turned blue that let me know what was going on, and i put in a metal sponge, and some sorta copepr remover that already came in its own bag, dont really know anything about it the lfs ordered it for me, but how long after i remove the metal remover should i try my euroreef again...and should i add another poly pad once its done to ensure that all of it has been removed?

thanks for your help again

Hello ER club,
I have been holding off buying one with all the changes going on, but I thought you could help me with a couple of questions? Will the new Eheim pumps replace the current Gen-X's on all the skimmers? RC and non RC?
Also, on the Gen-X 6000 (RC250) pump it states 130watts and on the ER site it's listed at 60watts. Why is there such a difference here? Twice as much watts seems like a lot, no?

Thanks guys, I'll be joining you soon. Oh, I e-mailed ER but have not gotten a reply.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking about buying a RC500, a LFS offered me a used RC1000 - has anybody seen a RC1000 in action - I think it has 4 pumps and is 48" tall.

if you just plug it in with no water it pulls 45 watts if you put the stock water impeller in it , and put it in the water it pulls 130 watts diffrent types of nw-impellers in the water and venturis makes it fall in between the two.

ill be comparing perfromance of the ER nw with my GG wheel, paddle and the mesh wheel this weak. It will be interesting to see witch pull most air, least water, and least watts.

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me…

I have a CS8-1 with the Sedra 5000 pump and all I seem to get is large bubbles. After washing the skimmer cup clean I get a nice frothy foam which lasts about one day and then it goes flat. Where all I get after this is large bubbles, kind of like soda carbonated bubbles.

I was wondering if something is wrong with my skimmer or if there is something I could do to always have a nice frothy foam? Do you think it's because my water is too clean (I use purigen and phosguard 24/7)?

Thanks for your help. :)

check the venturi line and volute... also have a gander at the needlewheel itself and make sure no debris is in it.

All checked out, the skimmer is brand new even though discontinued. It has been acting like this since day one.

the bubbles at the top that spill skimamte into the cup are large... or the bubbles in the skimmer body.

in the skimmer body... the bubbles should be tiny making the body pretty much white when you look at it.

First of all thanks for your help. :) The bubbles in the skimmer body are small and it does look completely white. The problem is with the bubbles in the neck, they are large watery bubbles. The only time the bubbles are frothy is 24 hours after the cup and neck are washed.

how high is your riser tube? (determine water/bubble line in the neck)... i run mine pretty high (with a gate valve)... so about an inch or so above the water line the bubbles spill over into the collection cup. if yours isnt set high, dont do it really fast... you will be constantly flooding the cup, but week by week you can work the riser up (and if that doesnt get you where you wanna be, then try the gatevalve mod for more fine tuning as well as not having to clean that foam filter anymore)

sounds to me it is acting normal... just set really low.

That's where I'm running mine, but no joy. :(

Anyone know the transition plan to change over to the ehiem pumps? I have read they are silent...?

How about the current pumps GenX 4100 are they silent ??

I'm looking at getting the CS400. Of all the popular choices based on service quality and rep. Seems to be the best deal going...?

i use eheim 1260 on my skimmer , the pump quite compare to the genx6000. there is not big different with the skim result (but compare to the genx6000 the eheim push less water to the skimmer body i believe if it was the eheim 1264 the improvment was different) . i need to make more test between those pump. when i try on the genx with the DLS material the pump get more quite and it's pull more air then the regular impeller the skim result was higher. i am going to make more test on those pump and wait to get other impeller to the genx .
