Mine shuts downs when I fed mysis, krill, any frozen food and my homemade mush. Problem is, I have to open the gatevalve all the way if not the skimmer goes crazy and overflows. While I fed my tank I get alot of micro bubbles, but when it gets back to normal, no micro bubles. I have no baffles. The skimmer goes back to normal in around 45 mins, then I can slowly close the gatevalve and raise the water level. Anyone else has to do this when they fed? Dosent happen when I fed flakes tho. It does shut down but comes back up on its own and dosent overfill.

Zoom - i have a micro jet pump feeding the reactor...prolly 100gph most likely less!

its 9:15pm and still down. any advice

After seeing all these pics I decided to take a some new pics of my ER. This is 5 days worth of fish poo. My skimmer is also competing with a 50 gallon fuge with a basketball sized chunk of chaeto. Enjoy :D

i only fed forzen mysis and brine. i wonder why it kills it so bad.

I think the fatty acids or oils in these foods impede bubble formation. You'll just have to wait until the fatty acids or oils break down or become assimilated.

jeff - that is some nasty stuff. beautiful fish in the background...that a blueface i'm seeing?

reef - yeah i know the oils mess w/ it but i don't understand why it took from 2pm wed to 7:30am (when i woke up) thursday. so it was offline for 12hrs or more. not sure when it started working again. i feed everyother day thank goodness! i'll need to start finding a different food to feed i guess

Thanks. Yup. Thats a blueface. 10" show size. I've got it trained to eat out of my hand. I love Amgels and Tangs. Tangs can be a bit spastic, but Angels have great personalities IMO.

Hey Lunch, do you mind if I use those pics on our website to illustrate the valve adjustment? That woudl be great.. and if you have more that would be even better.. e-mail them to me :)

My Euro-Reef 6-2+ w/ sp5000 (belongs to my 58g oceanic RR)

[

And I thought I was the only crazy one to run an er 6-2+ on a 58rr tank:D

Hi - is there a name on those valves - I've not seen any quite like those and would like to try one out on another application - brand name so I can search online - thanks

for those of you clueless about what is being talked about..which i was clueless too. here are pics

this is the ballvalve w/ the unions removed. see those squares on the ballvalve guts? take the handle off and put it in the holes. turn counter clockwise to loosen it a little and loosen the turning strength!! VERY COOL! and takes up WAY less room than a gatevalve

thanks Zoom and euroreef. i didn't understand till i took mine apart :D

greenlm and taddogz - how the 6-2+ work on your 58gal?? you get good skimmate?

jnb - not sure what the brand is and i'm not in the position to take it off and look for a name. best bet is to email ER or wati for a reply here.

i'll let you nkow if i look though

I have a bunch of double union ball valves on my tank that have the same adjustment setting for how hard it is to turn the valve. They are not the same as the ER valves. Here is a pic:

If you look at the valve on the top right you can see the little knobs on the handle for making the adjustments. The brand of these valves is Asahi.

WHAT???!!! geeze i thought you ran that 8-2 on a bigger tank. man talk about oversized

crab - do you get good skimmate out of it...since your tank is so small sized compared to the skimmer

thanks

It was originally on a 90, then a 75 and now the 37. I still get plenty of skimmate. I feel like I can feed my fish pretty much as much as I would like and not have to worry about it.

crab - i thought you had it on a bigger tank. wow quite the downgrade system there.

any pics of the skimmate from the 37??

thanks
Lunchbucket

Give me a couple of days, I just dumped it. I've downgraded quite a bit; my daughter needed a playroom worse than I needed a fish room sooo....
