Expecting Father

congratulations Ade!!! I'm trying to imagine how small they must be to fit in dads mouth. Anyone have an idea how many they uually have?

that's great, if you get enough of them raised and need homes, I'd love to have a couple.

That's an interesting point Colleen, they must me awfully tiny.

I have one of the babies from this pair from a previous brood ... When I got him he was a few months old and I would say that he could have fit on a nickel .... The babies are smaller than guppy babies when first born ...

:eek1: Well around 10.30 last night looked in the tank to see if the male had released the babies yet and I saw one swiming in the colt and as I kept on looking there was three swiming in the spines of an urchin. So I took a small hang on breeding tank and took a cup and tried to catch the babies. At around 11.15pm I have cought 7 babies cards. Before I left for work 5.30am this morning, looked in the tank to se if the babies were OK and saw another 6 swiming in an urchin and around the colt. I left the ones in the urchin for now and cought the rest. I could not beleave that the male could hold that many babies in his mouth.
I plan on moving them to thier own tank soon and I will hope for the best.

NICE! Congrats Ade ... That must be one of the "highs" of the hobby ... To have something successfully breed in your tanks ... Keep us updated .... we are happy for ya ...

way to go Ade. Keep us posted on how they do.

Wow Eric, Guppy babies are really small. I remember waiting for my clown eggs to hatch. I could see the eyes through the egg. They were really tiny too. Never caught them hatching though.

My blue stripe clowns lay about every 20 days or so, it is so cool to see the female lay and the smaller male following behind her. The clown eggs hatch at night and when they look kind of silvery and they seem to be all eyes they are ready to hatch.

I got to see the Cardinal babies today and they were wicked ****a. :D Michael R

Mike it's "****ah" ...

Well 13 days old and they are all doing great, still can not get them to look at cyclopeeze. That is my goal to get them to frozen food or even flake. Hopefully with a little help from Eric and Candace we can get some pics up soon.

Ade I just got a pair today, they look to me to be sub adults. They are in QT now. One day I'd love for them to have babies, do you need to protect the babies from the parents once dad lets them out of his mouth?

Oh and CONGRATS Dad!! Or is it grandad?

I have them in a breeding pen, a nylon hang on. Once the dad spat them out I tried to catch then asap incase dad wanted a snack.

There are 11 in total. All I have is a celly for taking picture and they don't turn out to great. Hopefully after a visit from Candace and Eric today there should be a pic or two for you to see.

Hey all... These are some pics that Candace took of Ades babies.... These guys were about the coolest thing I have seen in a long time... They were pretty difficult to get excellent pics but these came out pretty good... The cardinals could litterally fit 2-3 on the face of a dime... So tiny ...
