extreme vodka dosing?

ok so about 3 1/2 months ago I started dosing vodka in my 20 gallon and I started with the normal instructions, but instead of cutting the dose in half when p04 reached 0(it was already near zero when I started) I kept increasing the dose, I am now at 27ml and plan to go to 30ml next week, and I have to say Im amazed with the results some of my ugliest brown acros are now some of my favorites and my garf bonsai has grown more more in just the month of march than it did in the previous 3-4 months, my pink lemonade turned from a dull yellow and pink to bright green and red/pink(kinda like the strawberry shortcake) and I have to say I like it better than the traditional colors, has anybody else played around with high doses of vodka? what are your thoughts, even if you haven't tried it.

do you have any picture of your tank? I'm currently at 4ml 80% proof for my tank... might increase it

80 proof.

I should have mentioned I have a high bioload. 9 fish, and a few non-photos, I feed 2-3x a day, my fish include, a pair of clowns, a small pair of disbar anthias, a pair of spotted mandarins, a 2" lemonpeel mimic tang, and a pearly jawfish. I feed flake in the morning, mysis when I get home from school and sometimes flake or mysis again when I get home at night from work. I feed the suncorals which are housed in the fuge 3x a week and I feed the dendro 3x a week. I also try to spot feed my scoly and acans once or twice a week if I have time.

when po4 and no3 reach zero, it´s not necessary to keep high levels of vodka

you will get a bacterial bloom soon

best regards

and this is all in a 20 gallon?
yup, the tank is packed, but everything will be moving over to the 57 rimless soon and the 20 will become a zoa/paly tank.

I'll try and get some pics when I get my camera back, its not the greatest though, but I can get decent pics from time, and just because I love this pic heres the best macros the camera has taken so far.

man be careful! i got drunk and added to much vodka to my tank and have been battling a huge bacteria bloom for the last 3 weeks. the first 2 weeks i it was so bad i could not see more than a few inches into the tank.

I started dosing my new 150g setup with vodka 1ml a day, have some cyno. Will this go away when still carrying on with the dosing. No dsb and refugium, just a Aquamedic Shorty skimmer.

I was a to a point of dosing 30mL twice a day in my 110g system. I have a TON of fish. I never had a bacterial bloom, but some anthias did get a bacterial infection. I lowered the dose, and the anthias recovered.

Crsaz, upping will eventually cause issues. If everything is doing great I would stay where you are at. Each tank is different but 30ml daily is twice the amount I was adding to 200g.

27mL? Wow. I'm doing about 6-8 drops of MB7 in addition to about .5mL of vodka daily, hoping to rid the hair algae and stringy algae. Seems like you just had success when upping the dose? Should I increase mine?

1 ml/day with my 30g display sotcking list:2.75" blue tang, pair of clowns female 2", manderin goby, 2" blue chromis, 3.5" lawnmower blenny, 2" 6 line, 3 2-3.5" sps mini colonies, 4 3" zoanthid colonies, 4.5"brain coral, small frogspawn, 2" blasto. I do have an asm g4, and an 18 gallon fuge hooked up to this, I do feed heavily, very heavily, but I thind my fuge has a big role in the vodka dosing, a higher dose would make sense if you dont have a sand bed, are you running a bare bottom? even if you are, you need to stop where you are and see what happens!

What skimmer are you using? It would have to be huge to pull out the vodka fast enough to not destroy everything in the tank using 27ml for a 20g. I use 2ml in about 240g total volume. I bet your tank doesn't last too much longer at this rate. Either your full of crap or your tank will be crashing soon enough.
