F/S Huge Carpet Anemone

I have for sale a pretty big carpet anemone. Im not sure if its a Haddoni or not, i really was never told from the fish store in FL what kind it was. Its tan with whiter markings on it. When it is fully open, it spans between 12"-16"!!! with its placement in my tank though, i havent seen it fully open in over a year. I purchased it as a little guy for $50. id like to get 75, but will happily entertain offers.

Hey Aaron, its my anemone. lol I live in Utica which isnt too far from cuse. We can meet here or maybe even at ABC on sunday. I have to get some salt anyway.

can you describe or post a picture of this anemone's column?

was the anemone placed up high like that or did it crawl up there.... where is it's foot anchored?



this might be a Merten's carpet anemone. They get very large. Huge.

Gary, not sure i understand when you say the anemone's column. It was placed on the left side of the tank originally. I placed it on the sand bed and slowly moved up. It was for a couple of months about halfway up and then one morning i woke up to see a 10lb rock pushed forward and the anemone towards the top more, where it sets now. I cant exactly see where the foot is anchored. It looks like its either on a rock or in between two rocks.

To be honest, ive never looked into its id until now, i kinda didnt care. I just liked the looks of it.

are there slightly longer tentacles surrounding the mouth area?

what lighting are you running?

IME Haddon's anemone doesn't travel upwards. They shy away from intense lighting and keep their foot anchored under a rock or in the sandbed. The column contains the stomach. It's the part that attaches the foot to the oral disc.

The tentacles are the same length near the mouth. Its currently under 14k Xms with 2x t5 supplements.

Im still not sure what you mean about the column. If youre talking about the underside of it. Its all an off white color. There are no spots or markings.

From a selling or buying standpoint... Is there a big difference between the two different anemones?
