Fail's SPS 14 Gallon Biocube

wow....!!!
I really admire the shape of your corals fail buddy!!!
The colors are amazing and that happens in a small tank that is way more difficult compared to a bigger one.
You have my respect!

Like bello said, the pics are crazy!
Love the fishes names!

Really glad everything went ok with the move!
No get some rest and some vitamins;)

Ha! Thanks, G. I stopped by your thread and saw that things are going well! Good work, buddy!

Your display looks superb mate. Corals look nicely coloured too. Pepito looks like he is upto no good. His got a mischievous look on his face.

Thanks, Sahin it means a lot.

Your tank is looking great as usual!

Pepito is a little bastard. I love him and his antics. He pesters the Randall's goby into a game of tag every now and again, but other than that he is the best fish I've ever owned thus far.

Great looking tank Fail! I have a biocube 29 and was wondering how you like Minimax reactor. I also use that same light over my frag tank, what bulbs are you planning on using ?

Nate, I love the little thing. If you are in the group of GFO users, do it. Its a great little device.

The bulbs I went with are 2 coral+ 2 blue+.

Thank you for the kind words, Nate!

Yeah I run GFO in a cpr nano reactor right now and it just doesn't cut it. Hopefully one day I can have SPS success like you.

Thanks, Bello! I'm trying to get crazy with it, but there is little learning curve. I've been watching every photography video available and it's still going over my head. Once I build a new computer I should be able to get an editing program and mess with that.

I need a macro lens in the worst way.

I own a basic Nikon D3100 for about 2 years and still don't know anything :p. I'm relying on a friend who knows a bit better :p. I still have just the standard 18-55mm kit lens, and a 50mm fast lens, on his recommendation.

The Macro lens is looking out of budget at the moment :(

Yeah I have those same exact lenses.

I'm hoping to buy at least 2 more... When that is? No clue.

The 100mm macro is priority on that list though.

I should be building the stand for the 20 frag tank in 2 weeks.

All I need is another ReefKeeper and a heater. Then it's go time.

Lookin good! Either a 60mil or 100mil macro would be perfect. Id get a wide angle since you already have a zoom and a 50

Thanks, Kevin. It means a lot coming from one of the many people who keeps an awesome tank!

I was thinking of a wide angle but I haven't done much research into them yet.

And the reason I want the 100mm is the distance I can get from the subject and still get a really up close and personal shot. I'll be looking at the 60mm now on your recommendation!

Damn mate, the tank and corals are looking awesome

Very glad the move went well, good job buddy :) You definitely need a macro so you can take cool close ups of those yummy colored acros, Kevin won't steer you wrong when it comes to reef photography :)

Thank you, Biggles! I am surprised everything handled the move as good as they did. I only lost color on a couple pieces.

I really can't wait to get the frag tank going and get the macro lens. I think the 100mm is going to get here in a month or so. :D

Just need to keep the gf out of the loop... :debi:

Fail I have a canon 5d mark ii and have taken some photos of my tank you should check them out I would love to talk to you and help you figure your camera out. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2360673 or check out my flikr http://www.flickr.com/photos/79339600@N02/sets/72157638860166235/ you don't need a macro lens to get great shots I have taken most of thee with my 50mm f/1.4 and some macro tubes I purchased off amazon I'll have to find the link later. But anyway check those out and if you are interested I would be more than happy to share my experiences and settings with you. I totally understand shooting under LEDs I have radians. And very nice biocube I have one and was looking to upgrade lights and do something along the lines of this with it.

Thanks, Ty. I really appreciate the complements and the offer for learning the mysteries of digital cameras.

As soon as I get some downtime from work, I will pm you!

Thanks! I'll get you there! If it would help I could take an instructional video and send it to you so it's a little easier to understand then just ramble on about shutter speeds, ISO, and f-stops lol. I'm not sure what exact lenses you have but here are the macro tubes I was telling you about. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ALNA09W/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 very budget friendly alternative to a new lens. And most of the shots I have on my flikr are using those tubes and my 50mm f/1.4

I saw you got the canon 60d very good starter camera. You won't be out growing that anytime soon. What are your lenses?
