Picked up a new fairy wrasse...not sure what variety it is any ideas? These pictures are terrible...but best I could seem to get tonight. Bright red head, orange flanks (doesn't show in photos well), iridescent blue lateral spots, bright iridescent blue tail, iridescent outline and spots on fins, and black/white splotchy belly. Pelvic fin is elongated with red coloration and a black outline, the posterior of the dorsal fin is somewhat filamented.

+1 on Longfin fairy. The darker splotches on the sides/belly may just be stress from all the new surroundings and he may lose those once he settles in more fully. Nice fish!

Looks exactly like my whip fin fairy wrasse. Great fish !
I've had very few problems with wrasses...but I put a whip fin in the same class as a 6 line...can get aggressive, will never again allow them in my tanks.

So what is it then?

rubriventralis or filamentosus?

Question- Does the rubriventralis always have the elongated dorsal fin or just with the males?
