looks like a venusta coris... if it is.. u need to take it out or say bye to all your snails and hermits!! Im most likely wrong, but i can't tel by the pic. lol

Unfortunately a not god shot, but I can say it is Paracheilinus; carpenteri, flavianalis, mccoskeri, or others. You shoud take the fins, too.

will try and get a better pic... the back is sort of pale no real lines or strong markings.. will post better shot later today...

thanks

yeah definitely a coris wrasse. It will eat the snails and hermits in the tank. Looks like a venusta wrasse. Very nice, but not 100% reef safe (regarding corals)

really? i cant rember what he was sold as but that is why i was posting... i remeber him being sold as reef safe...

his colors are yellow and a dirty purple towards the back.. i do notice that he likes to pick on the bottom or rock and turn small pieces over as he hunts all day... never bothers the corals directly..

Tanaka - i got in 2 of the cirrhilabrus tibecense wrasse i was talking about earlier. I can't find that species name anywhere and i believe you said you have never heard of it as well. I will post a pic tomorrow. I think it looks a little like a C. katherine or C. temminki, but really not definite on either one... very nice wrasse though. lots of colors :)

Conde's FW (Solomons)

Conde's FW (Solomons)

This is Conde's Fairy Wrasse, Cirrhilabrus condei, male, 70mm from the Solomon Islands. I for the first time got it from there.

It has a distinct red band basally on dorsal fin.

zemuron114,
Again I do not know what tibecense means. If it comes from Vanuatu it should be punctattus.

There are two distinct colorations in display in Cirrhilabrus condei.

Upper: male from the Solomons in display. The dorsal fin is red & black.

Lower: male from Vanuatu in display. The yellow part of dorsal fin is conspicuous, but almost no red are in the fin.
