Fairy wrasse Photo Library

sincere thanks for the advice guys... beach bum, that sounds insane. hopefully there aren't any wrasse police lurking in the shadows :)

but seriously... anybody notice how the rhomboid, pyle's, pink margin and lineatus are basically the SAME fish? a lot of your pics look like they're the exact same fish, different shots sent thru a reverse color job on photoshop.

OK! it's officially on! i'm gonna move, re-plumb my tank, buy a new skimmer and return pump... i swear this hobby is like godfather part III... "just when i think i'm out, they PULL ME BACK INNNN!!!"

How long do fairies live? I had a solar for a 2-3 years (it was pretty large when I bought it), then it just turned up dead. I've been assuming it was old age that did it in.

Even if it's not a fairy wrasse, there's a shot of one of my filamentous flasher wrasse i managed to take a few weeks ago.
what i don't like about this wrasse is even if they claim it to be peacefull, this one is a little nasty with my firefishes.

just absolutely stunning!

Yes it is, and it display like that each and every night an hour or so before lights off.
I wish i could have a better pic cause that one is not really showing.

Actually there are wrasse police lurking but if you mistreat them it is on your own very expensive nickel since you will not have them in the long run. Firefish are often intimidated by flasher wrasses even to the point where they will hid and stop eating.

It is indeed correct and i'm getting ready to move my firefishes into a nice 45 gal rimless cube.

I noticed that my two firefihes play hide and seek but still come out for lunch but it won't be long before they move to my other tank.

Exquisite wrasse question

Exquisite wrasse question

I'm looking to get some exquisite wrasses soon and wanted to know what the difference in coloration is from the different locations they are transported from.

Some have the redish cheeks while others have more of a purple stripe on the cheeks. The three locations that I've seen is Indonesia, Africa, and Vanuatu (off the coast of Papa New Guinea and Australia).

Can anyone give a short description on the color variations from the different regions?

Thanks so much!

the african varient has the pink on the face...the pacific has the red on the fins and some i see have lots of yellow on the face..i have kept the africans..but not the pacific..tried two and the did not make it but are my favorites...keep in mind you are going to need some females or the color will fade..but i do see females for sale alot on the exqusite

Gotcha and thanks. Yeah I may just have to go with the yellow fins (C. flavidorsalis) I really don't want just one of which ever I go with. So I guess finding females will be the deciding factor.

Yes it is Crystal, stop by when you are back up in SLC, I'm only a few blocks away from M. A. new place.

What would be a good Fairy Wrasse for a 55gal Tank? In the tank there are 2 Ocellaris Clowns and bullet goby.

Can you please post pictures too?
