Bronco,do,you,know,if,my,solar,wrasse,is,a,male,or,female?

Since,I,read,their,colors,will,fade,

do,you,think,a,40,gallon,with,2,solarwrasses,2,false,percula

and,thats,it,would,be,too,much?

GunMoto: yup, that's it for my fairies! in that tank i've also got 3x ornate leopard wrasse. but i don't think those are faries? correct me if i'm wrong...

lineatus - big guy... 5" or so!
rhomboid - ~4"
'adult' rosy fin (the one pictured a few posts up) - ~3.5-4"
juvenile rosy fin (the one i'm trying to get a shot of) - ~2.75-3.25"

3 x ornate leopards: ~3.5", 3.5", 4"

and thanks on the pics! i recently discovered the... oh, i forget what you call it... the feature where you hold down the shutter and it takes a burst of pictures. very nifty, helps a ton! mine can only do 3 before it needs to pause a second, then 3 more. after 2 or 3 of those sessions, i gotta let it write to the CF card. the camera just sits there w/ the CF light lit, heh! (sandisk ultra II card)

CrazyLionfish: notta problem, glad to hear you've got a replacement on the way! :D

Well,
I just got myself 2 wrasses that were being held at my LFS for the passed 2 weeks. :)

An Orangeback Wrasse, Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis

and a Solar Wrasse, Cirrhilabrus solarensis

I added them to my 180gal last night, and were eating right away. I noticed quite a bit of aggression from the Talbot's damsels. I hope it will go away. The tangs, magnificent foxface, and bellus angel are all indifferent.

Well,one,of,my,fish,in,my,DT,has,an,internal,parasite!!

I,hope,it,doesn't,spread,to,my,wrasse,somehow

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

My best experiences have been with Live Aquaria and Vivid Aquariums.Healthy fish, good customer service, and a great guarantee.

imo, there are no more beautiful fish than fairy wrasses, BUT.. they are jumpers, and I wouldnt classify them as easy to keep. i have never lost a fish to QT time, jumping or otherwise except for fairy wrasses

Bronco, what fairys do you feel hold their colors best when no female is present? Boy, don't read that one out of context.

Solar Fairies
Scott's Fairies
Temmnick's Fairies
Blue Scaled Fairies
Black-finned fairies
Exquisite Fairies

All these fish tend to lose their colors a bit if they don'y have a harem of females. When I say they lose colors its primarily their beautiful nuptial or courtship colors. Obviously without a mate to court the darker colored fairies (blue's/browns/greens) tend to
fade.

The in-between group - this means they may fade a bit but not alot:

Rhomboid Fairy
Pyle's Fairy
Pink-Margin Fairy
Goldbar fairy
Yellow-flanked fairy

Here are the fish that tend to keep their colors well, regardless of wether or not there is a harem:

Labout's
Flame
Social Fairy
Conde's Fairy
Lineatus Fairy
Yellowfin Fairy
Lubbock's Fairy
Rosy-fin Fairy
Orange Back fairy

(It seems to me that the fish that have the red-orange coloration or the hot pinks & yellows tend to keep their colors better than the blues & greens)

Please note that the fish listed in this post are the only fish I have had experience with or owned.......if a fish is not listed here, wether it be as a color fader or not, then I cannot confirm if they are faders or not.

My solorensis fairy wrasse is solo, however he's still colorful and vibrant. I wonder how much "more" vibrant he would be with a harem of females...I'm sure it would be amazing, hehe.

I just got a fairy wrasse too, but have no clue on speices, sex, etc.. Anyone care to give me some more detail on this little guy.. or girl?
