Nice wrasses everyone, here is a new one for me. I believe its a blue flasher wrasse?

Hard to capture on film but this guy really glows blue! :)

So I need a little help here. I'm sure the answer was on one of these 26 pages but i guess i can't find it.

I have a rose scale that has been in my tank from practically day 1. Last month I added a yellow fin after a solar died after 2 days in the tank. The yellow fin took to the rose scale great. They are like best buddies. Well today I added a Scotts and the yellow fin attacks it as soon as he sees it. Now my rose has been the problem wrasse before and I didn't expect this to happen. I mean the body shape of the yellow fin and scotts is different and they are different colors and are different sizes. Will the hostility calm down or am I out of luck. There is no way of catching either of these fish unless i dismantle the entire tank.

FishF00d my experience was that the aggression continued to the point of severe fin damage and eventually I lost the Scott's.
In my case it was probably because they were similar in size and color and my tank is only a 93 gal.

You have a big tank with I'm sure plenty of rockwork so I would give them some time they will probably calm down in a few days.

yea, the yellow fin is the smallest and bright pink, and the scotts is just a little bigger but is blue and green, and the two have different body shapes. I do have a lot of rock in there. I never knew why the solar died. He was out and doing great the first 2 days. I got the yellow fin with a big discount where I got the solar from becuase he didn't make it. The Scotts is the one last fish I wanted. It was between him and an exquisit. Hope he works out. I got a fairly good deal because I traded in tons of purple cap to offset the cost but thats not the point.

Phil... I am. Shhh. It was one of the last ones that i wanted in my tank and Dave had it so i got it. Dave did get a bunch or purple cap in return. What I took him i could have made more then enough to pay for the fish and acro i got had I sold it on line, but i just wanted it out. It is a nice fish. I'm just crossing my fingers on this one because it would a shame to lose it because of another fish chasing it. Dave said you liked the Australian coloration better. I kind of like the red spot on the side.

Well some good news i guess. I came home and looked for the scotts and couldn't find him. I put some flake food in the tank and he came darting out to eat. Was swimming around with the other wrasses. The only problem is he still seems skittish and went back in the rocks. I also noticed minor damage to his tale. All in all things look good. I'd expect him to hide for a few more days. Hopefully it won't be much longer. He has nice color.

Maybe it'll work out.

I just added a male Cirrhilabrus luteovittatus to a tank with some other Cirrhilabrus sp. and a C. balteatus male ran him around and kept him hidden for a few days but now it's all one big "happy" family.

I have a Temminck, I saw it on page 2 of this thread, it does not have the yellow stripe, but everything else looks the same. Do I have a female or male. It is about 4 inches long. I want to add 2 more wrasses, but don't know which ones? My tank is 150 gal. but is 48in long by 24 wide and 31 tall. Not to much swimming room. Any suggestions?

My wrasses have settled down and there is only minor picking on the Scotts. My next question is did this thread ever discuss if basslets were ok to mix with wrasses.

Pink Margin

Pink Margin

Picture does this fish no justice. I got it a few days ago and it is amazing. I can't believe the coloration on this guy.

Holy smokes if my Pink Margin had that kind of coloration it would be my favorite fish in the tank (not really, it would have to be a little more out going for that).
