Okay, here are some prime examples of the body language I speak of:

First: Here's a finespotted fairy wrasse that is clearly stressed out. Just sits at the bottom of the cup, slumped over. Colors are marbled which only occurs during sleep or stress. The fish just doesn't look comfortable.

Now, here's a whole different display of body language. This is a flame fairy. Notice how he' swimming not just lying down. Notice how he displays himself to the visiting Exquisite....basically saying "Keep away or I'll kick your butt!"

This fish will immediately adapt once I release him in the tank. He'll be ready to stand up to anyone.

Sorry, looks like the picture of the finespotted didn't register on the last post.
Here I'll try it again. This is the stressed fish:

great info..

great info..

thanks bronco... another question...

if you have more than one fish to introduce, do you have few of these conatiners floating? Or do you introduce only one fish at a time?

Bronco, I am too a fairy wrasse nut, my LFS who gets in lots of really rare stuff is going to get a lanceatus in tommorrow. How hard are they normally to get and how much do you think they would command he is going to get 4 of them in. You think cause he is getting 4 in they might be a little cheaper?

Scott

DeltecRules, I've never heard of a lanceatus wrasse, is that correct spelling? Google search didn't bring up anything. I'm always intrested in seeing your rare wrasses from a LFS not too far from me! I'm going this friday I believe, I'm covering my eggcrate with a plastic thin grated sheet so no more jumping!!! And hopefully I'll be able to replace my poor solar wrasse :(

Matt, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Hopefully the new precautions will keep all future jumpers in the tank. Good luck with finding another wonderful wrasse on Friday.

Sorry I mispelled it, its Cirrhilabrus lanceolatus. He is supposedly getting4 of them in. they are suppose to be extremely rare. I wonder how much they are going to cost each. Probably more than my lineatus what i paid for him.

Marcel & Slobound

I get the majority of my fish via Marineaquatics.net or Justrarefish.com

That pyle's I have pictured comes from them. Marcel, they also have a couple of Rosy fins available right now.

Deltec,

The Cirrhilabrus lanceolatus is a very rare fairy wrasse. While I have seen one live in an aquarium. I've never seen one for sale....at least not in my area or through the normal channels I use.

The Lanceolatus is know for it's tail. It has a very long spear or sword like filament growth on it's tail. If I remember correctly (I'm vacationing right now and away from my references) it comes from the east....Asia or Japan.

My guess is that despite the fact the LFS is getting 4, he's probably gonna charge an arm and a leg for them. If he's hyping up the fact they are rare, then I'd guess he's gonna ask top dollar. Even if he got them for low price.
I'd make sure they are Lanceolatus because wrasses can easily be confused sometimes.
If in fact they are lanceolatus, please do me a favor and come back and let me know the price, health, and shipping policies that stores uses. If they check out, I might be interested.

However, if this shop is getting access to them, then I have to assume some fish distributor out there has more. Which means that a place like Marineaquatics.net might also get access to them.
Marineaquatics.net deals in nothing but rare and hard to find fish. Not yellow tangs or royal grammas which every mom and pop shop sells for "margin" reasons.
Currently Marineaquatics is working on getting a rare Blood stain fairy from Africa for me. Can't wait for that.
