should i put a small peace of PVC in there for it to hide. i would think it would be stressful not being able to hide?
so is it posibule for me even to put my two wrasses together because the have very close colors?

Can I get some info on the flasher wrasses?

My LFS has one that hasn't moved in a about a month and it is really nice. It is red and white with some blue pattern in it. Not as pretty as a McCosker's but a really nice fish nonetheless. Not sure what it is as they have it labeled as a flasher wrasse, nothing more.

I plan on replacing my deceased flame wrasse which will be my showpiece. Will it and a red flasher get along ok?

I also have a lubbock.

shane,

When you say: "should i put a small peace of PVC in there for it to hide".......does "in there" mean your hospital QT or your regular tank. I'm assuming your talking about a QT because you should have LR for a fish to hide in in a regular tank.

Yes, in a QT you should have a piece of PVC.

It is possible to place similarly colored wrasses together in a tank but it is something you should try after you've gained some experience with this species. As mentioned already in a few posts back, the worst thing you can do is buy two fish from the same breed, equal size and sex and place them in a tank together. Ex: large male with large male...same breed. Then your asking for trouble.

Yes the flasher will get along with a flame. Just purchase the flasher first, then the flame.

i was talking about in the specimen cup .
my 2 wrasses are not the same kind one is a long fin and the other is a red fined. but they look close so what can i do? i put the long fin in my 6 gallon for now.

I doubt you will have a quarrel by putting both in the specimen cup. They just won't have room to manuever and territory is not yet an issue.

Shane,

I tried bronco's wrasse acclimation method when I added my latest wrasse, a cirrhilabrus flavidorsalis.

I used a Hagen Marina Multi-Breeder. I drilled some holes through the top so that I could ziptie it to my canopy whilst in the tank. Worked great. :)

Hi,
i was wondering what the tank requirments for lineatus wrasse is?
i got a 60g cube would this be sufficent. i got the chance to get a pair and want to make sure i can provde for them properly

Thanks

bronco7777- or anyone for that mattter that has fairy wrasses.

2 questions for you,

1. How do you feel about sixlines and fairy wrasses? are they not a good mix as i know the sixlines are some what agressive and the fairy wrasses are pretty shy. or can it work if you get a small sixline and put it in the tank after the fairy wrasses?

2. Is mixing flasher and fairy wrasses ok? should you just introduce the flasher wrasses first?

thanks

Nick

mine killed my first fairy after 6 months of them living together. they are about as mentaly stable as a clown trigger!

Ditch the sixline. They will most likely mess with the fairy wrasses down the road.

If you want a sixline for parasite or worm control use a pink streak wrasse.

Is it safe to keep different species of Fairy Wrasses in the same tank,ie a Scotts, Lineatus and a Pink Margin?

If you read the whole thread you can see that people like Bronco have many different fairy species in one tank.

The key seems to be avoiding having species that look similar that are also the same size, especially if they're added at about the same time.

I have a large supermale Pink Margin, no other fairies yet (I do have a Candy or Twin-Spot Hog, closest thing to another fairy - no fighting observed, but the Candy Hog is a lot smaller.)

However, they do look a quite a bit like Lineatus fairies and they're closely related varieties. I'd say that a Lineatus and a Pink margin might fight if they were similar sizes and added together. Cook's don't look anything like either of them though and I guess they shouldn't fight.

I think there's some speculation that Pink-Margins and Lineatus fairies may not even be sepearate species, isn't there? Much is unclear about species relationships in fairy wrasses because DNA testing hasn't been done; some variants of species may be different species alltogether, and some different species may just be color variants of one species.

Anyway, once I got my Pink-Margin I took Lineatus off my wish list; something like a Laboutei that doesn't look like either a Pink-Margin or a Cook's may be better for you.

Nice pair. I need to find a girl for my male flame. Is the male flashing his colors to the girl yet?

Does anyone know how to tell if red velvet fairy wrasse is male or female? I have two that are identical. LiveAquaria would not send me one male and one female so I have two of unknown sex.

BTW, this is not my photo, but they look just like it. Mine won't stay still long enough to get a picture in focus.

Thanks.

Very cool... I have a flame wrasse pair too and love them. Your male looks like he has more yellow on his body than mine. Did you catch those yourself when you were in Hawaii?
