Very nice collection of wrasses.

I need the rosy fin pair to close out my collection of commonly available wrasses. Then I will be in rarified Bronco air trying to obtain very, very rare species.

Do you have a female flame and if so do you see aggression between it and the mystery wrasse? I occasionally see aggression between mine. Not enough to do any harm, but disconcerting just the same.

The Flame wrasse is a little boss :) He will flare up to the mystery wrasse, actually everyone hates the mystery wrasse. But there is no agression. The mystery wrasse believe it or not is the biggest wuss of the tank he is about 3 inches too. I really would like a girl flame but for some reason not easy to get around here.

The ones I would like to complete my collection are the
Lineatus
Rhomboid
Pyle

I use to have all three but were jumping victims in the past because I didn't use an eggcrate at the time. I gotta save my cash for those guys.

The Lanceolatus is extrememly rare, my LFS gets all the rare stuff in and is probably the only LFS in the US to get them, so I would call that one mega rare.

DeltecRules,

JustDave (owner of kermits reef) has some females I believe. He just got them and they are in quarantine for the time being. You should PM him and see if he ships.

BTW how long have you had your male flame wrasse?

3 months

I love him, he wants to be the king of the tank but my big bad red margin won't allow that :) Ill PM and ask about the females.

DeltecRules, very nice. I am hoping to ad a rosy fin or flame soon, but then I am done. Everyone is happy now, no aggression. Would hate to have to catch someone, too many corals.

DeltecRules... I just got a female flame wrasse for my male (haha, mailorder bride) from Tom @ justrarefish.com. Not sure if he has anymore but thought I'd pass on that tidbit of info.

I seen his available list at marineaquatics.net and didn't see female flames does he update that list? How much was the girl?

He didn't update the list the last time he shipped the fish to me so I've learned to just call him and see what he has coming in. I'm waiting for a pylei pair to come in from him.

Labouti Fairy Wrasse - saw one in a store today that didn't look too colorful. Was only about 3" long... I'm guessing it's still a juvenile. Will they get better coloring as they grow larger/older or is this one a lost cause?

I was just going to post the same thing.

A local store has both a loubouts and a lineatus. The loubouts looks pretty good, just a little undercolored. Nothing being in a nice large matured tank with lots of peaceful fish and natural live rock and corals won't help color up. But the lineatus was extremely undercolored compared to some pictures I've seen. Would appreciate some advice from the wrasse experts in this thread.

See this link for the 2 pictures. They are right at the top of all the pictures. .

Well, I got him.
Here's some pics of that Scott's Wrasse... I'm using Bronco's Wrasse acclimation technique.

After looking at these fish I have to get one, what Wrasse is very colorful, that will grow pretty big, say 8-12 inches going in a 450-500 soon, that will not eat crabs, snails or bury itself?

None of the fairies get that big. Many max out about 5 1/2 inches.

Click the link, that's the store. It's not very colorful which is why I asked about it here. They even have a picture of it. The labouti is very colorful though.

Oh ok. Are Lineatus generally less colorful as juvis?

Hey DeltecRules, the 35gl hex has become a great home for my wife's killer koi! Thanks again!

I've finally got my 180gl stocked with corals and a whole bunch of beautiful wrasses. Unfortuantely, I don't have photo's to share yet, but after reading and seeing everyone's here, I will work on trying to take some decent photos this week.

Don't tell my bride how much these guys cost, or I'll be in jail for life!

Have you checked out the Marine Center for the special wrasses? I know you love Deep Reef, but there are actually a few other places that have good specimens too!

:) :bum:

Glad your enjoying the 35 gallon hex :) I always wanted to try Koi, but I am going to wait a while til I have some more $$$ on hand.

I was checking marinecenter but those prices are crazy especially when you add shipping. I am looking at a couple of things at liveaquaria.com and Justrarefish.com. I heard some really negative things about justrarefish but I am willing to give them a try especially the specimens they can get you and the prices they offer.

LOL just tell your bride to be they are $20.00 :) My G/F and parents keep saying how much I blew on my wrasses I tell them about $20.00 and they buy it. Which wrasses did ya get? Which skimmer did you end up going with on your 180? I am still on the hunt for the following wrasses:

Lineatus
Rhomboid
Pylei
