its not as good of a manager and if you have the $15 up front to sign up your going to get your 10 commitments and not have all the yes im in no im out yes ok well im not sure let me know just sign up
as far as the managers cbs is one of the best out there not saying yahoo isnt good but there is a difference between the free managers and the pay managers anyone thats been in any serious money leagues can attest for it you get what you pay for
on a side note anyone wanting to join a pay league we have two openings this year in a 10 player league $200 entry usually 15 to the winner and 5 for second

Al I think it truly is a case of you usually get what you pay for. If their is no commitments to show up in person and no fees to join then thats what your going to get. If you just want cheep and free then the commitments will reflect this. No one truly commits they just join to be joining. If your going to do it and have a truly competitive committed league your going to have to have commitments and that usually means showing up in person and a fee to join.
For now lets just get 10 committed people that sign up and pay the register fee. That will get things started with 10 committed participants and then just set a winner prize limit we all agree on and purchase a gift card from one of the LFS's and split it equally.

If we get a $100 gift card for the winner then thats $25 ($15 register and $10 participation) each and thats pretty inexpensive and enough of a commitment to get people that are serious.

I am willing to play for $25; however, MRX, CBS sounds great but I just don't think it makes sense for all of us to pay $15 for a $25 league. If we were playing for big bucks than the $15 would not be such a deal. I'm sure CBS is better, but I think we should do this fantasy league in either Yahoo, or ESPN, both of which are good enough.

Either way is ok its just easier. As long as the draft is in person. None of the online some show up some dont some can log in some cant bs that always seems to happen on those free leagues. It happened last year on two different days when this league tried to do its draft. You get what you pay for just remember that.

I agree with the commitment thing and charging ahead of time.:thumbsup: I am also down for the $25, so if we get 10 people thats $250. It does however, seem pretty pointless to take $150 and give it to CBS to do what yahoo can do for free.....I'd rather keep the payouts higher than give the money to them.
I've played in an auction league and a standard league for the last 6 yrs @ $100 per team, per league, and the free yahoo if just fine, winner gets $600, 2nd gets $300 and 3rd gets $100. Thats a 100% payout.
I wouldn't say I am poor, but I don't like to pay for something I can get for free.
Al is right, it will definately take some fine tuning to get it going, and we haven't even discussed the scoring system, roster size and starting line-up positions.

What, 12 hrs and no posts? There is only a month before we need to draft, lets get it rolling........
It looks like so far there are 5 for sures;
1) illal

We need to set a date by 9pm tonight. I suggest, SATURDAY AUGUST 28th @ 1pm and draft at 1:30 sharp. Any of the definates object? (any ideas on location?)
Draft order can be picked out of a hat @ 1:15pm and anyone not there yet will get what is left. If someone who paid hasn't showed up by there turn, they will get a default pick of next best availeable based on Yahoo rankings. Hopefully this won't be needed.
I think the majority so far, does agree, to do a free league with all entry fees going towards the winning pool. We need to get a Commish set up and it looks like Matt has come foward. If he is unfamiliar with Yahoo, I can help him or if he changes his mind I can do it. We also need a treasurer to collect and hold the cash. Anyone?? You will need to have a paypal account.
Anyone else who is interested in joining what looks to be an exciting season, please comment here. Once we get a treasurer, we will post where to paypal the entree fee.

FYI Aug 28th is only week 3 of the preseason AKA Saturday Sept. 4 would be a better choice!
Sept. 4th is also Labor Day Weekend. Alot of peopel go away for the holiday.
I can make it though, what do you other definates think??
Al, I think a non-club member is fine, I may have one too, but lets see if we fill up with members first. Is that cool?
