Thanks greech, at night when it deflates it looks like a melted scoop of ice cream. No skeleton on this puppy Sheol, it is that white. These piks are when the lights had just came on, it still inflates more. I will post more piks later when it is fully inflated.

Oh man, that almost brings tears to my eye. My first true Favia, wiped out in the Great Crash of January 2010 in the old 36 Gallon Reef. Thing lived a long time..
Man, that loss is still hard to swallow.
RIP Christmas Favia!

Matthew

My xmas favia lived through my last great learning experience (maintain those sandbeds!) that took out essentially all my acans, my few chalices, a trachy and a scoly. Thinking about it, all my faviids survived. Their beauty is just about matched by their hardiness.

Chris,

Each of those things is a treasure! Great collection! If I ever (Curse curse swear swear) get my (curse curse swear swear) nitrates under decent control, I'm going to rebuild my Favia collection. From scratch..
But the only hard coral that survived the heater malfunction ( It killed a Rhodactis 'Shroom that essentially poisoned my entire 36-gallon reef) was my red-purple Favia. And a couple of coralites from my Xmas Favia. But they never fully recovered, sadly. Still, it shows they can be incredibly tough in tank crashes..

Matthew

Nice one! how much growth did you get for 4 years?

Oops, I have had it for 3 1/2 years. Bought it Jan 10, 2008.

Last January the coral suffered from what I believe was probably Black Band Disease that I think came in on an Australian Maze Brain, and I had to cut off about 1" all the way around the edge. Such a shame. :(

That is simply outstanding Myka! A REAL showpiece!
Would that mine had survived, it was a ringer for your first pic.
I have to get this tank right. Then I'm getting me a couple more Favia..

Thank you Mathew. Some of those are favias I have saved from LFS that seem to rebound in my tank quite quickly. I'm sure when you get the peramiters in your tank in check it should come back.

Wow those are some beauties Chris

Thank You

Yes, well I mean its ONLY been 8 months now, I guess I'm just wanting to rush!
Seriously, doing another water change (25%) next monday. I just did one this past monday. Brought it down to .30PPM. Drat!

Thanks for the wish though, I'm going to try & get it right!
