wow jose you must be board of the sticks to be hanging here. lol

rob on the sunset blues.. low light works for me. but i like to move it around abit and play with the color.

Holy *Beep*!!!!!! Jose' name that thing either Deep Sea blues or King Neptune. Bluest coral I've seen in a great long while.. Like maybe ever.
Sorry Richard, Jose' owns the official SUPERMODEL Favia" at this time. We'll all have to work overtime to match that. If it can be done..
I want one! I want one! Tell me its not a one of a kind, Puleezee,,'
(Cough) Uh, excuse the whining lack of dignity in the above, I was temorarily over come.

Matthew

Thank you guys I really like this piece and the polyps are huge. I saw it at one of my Lfs and told the person bag it with out even thinking twice lol! I like those names and sheol and if I use one I will sure be sending you a frag thanks again.:)

Been a silent observer of this thread since it started and I've got to say I've enjoyed the photography and the subject matter. Without planning or a whole lot of thought I wound up with 3 Favias and then there were 6 with the second 3 costing a lot more. Just ordered 4 more from EF. The corals pictured in this thread are absolutely amazing. Keep them coming. I'm green with envy. The whole appearance of my tank is changing as I break out the Monti caps to reduce the shading and make more space. I'm hooked! What's next? Photography!

I think I recognize that frag :D did you get it from Steve?

mildew. welcome to the club. lol. yes this thread has made me a junkie even more. it is amazing some of the color morphs that has covered pags and pages in these threads.
and yes photography is my new hobbie within a hobbie. i never thought i would be in the process of saving up for a new camera over powerhead and skimmers. so you got six favias to show us very nice. we look foward to seeing them=).
melev. nice war coral that one should grow good in your tank
jose. looking foward to seeing that in person. shoell aka mathew is great with his names. he has a great talent of that. we eye and farm them and he names them. lol great thing going on here.
then kev gets us off topic with side threads on chalices. ahhh your killing me. to much fun

Melev: Marc, what richard just said! That is a great looking War coral Frag. I think my chocoloate mint is actually a war coral that turned that nice shade of brown.
Jose': Thanks man! BTW, I would have done the same if I had seen that in my LFS. There wouldn't have been a second thought.
I'd really love a frag of that beauty!

Sincerely,
Matthew

Why is it called a War coral?

Marc

This is from Reeffarmers site, the site that originally named it. "The name 'War Coral' is simply based on the species name of pentagona and the Blood Red main pigmentation of the coral."

Larry

Here's a couple photo's of one of my favorite Favia's in my collection. I've had this frag since April and it too is called the Joker Favia.
