Feb Meeting

So I just got approval to host the Feb mtg. Feb 16th is 3rd Saturday. Noon till 4 or 11 till 3.

#1 thing, FOOD I'm thinking of doing a cerveche (seafood "cooked" in acid (lemon, lime, etc)).

Suggestions to bring are stuff to make sushi. Probably 1/2lbs-1lbs of each: tuna, salmon, anything else you can get fresh plus cucumber, avocado, fake crab meat, smelt eggs, fresh nori sheets, ginger, wasabi, etc. I'll cook the sushi rice. We'll just make up rolls with what ever shows up. (Shrimp Dock on Kingston Pike near Beardon or in Halls or Fresh Market way West near Campbell Station or near Beardon Hill are my targets for fresh seafood) - If the sushi idea bombs, we'll have to come up with something else seafood related.

For those that don't like sushi and seafood (Cervechi is actually cooked in the acid and not raw tasting at all) Chips and cheese dip always welcome at ETRC meetings!

Beverages  Beer/wine preferably Japanese side, and whatever else yall will be drinking...

#2 I'm not responsible for a topic or to speak. That's up to the club to come up with and someone to volunteer to present. With Mel's new RSM having the club's interest, I wouldn't mind showing mine as a topic but I think that would be a weak topic. Any better ideas?

#3 Noon till 4 is semi-firm. Not the time, but the duration. Pauline will "exit stage left" and go shopping once it starts. At $50 per hour shopping, I cant afford more than 4 hrs.

Looking forward to it. Lets get talking about the options for topics and the food.

Ummm, I'll bring some beer... lol  If I can find it, Sapporo, if not then whatever I can come up with... :D Though really ceviche is Latin American...

Ceviche is great!!! I haven't had it in a couple years... I should have had some when I was down in the D.R... Doesn't it take overnight (6 hours) to cook the fish though??? Perhaps if people are going to bring some of the ingredients they can chop it and soak it overnight in either lime or lemon juice, whichever you all prefer...

We can definately talk about nanos... I know plenty in the club have them... There is a wide variety of topics to discuss when it comes to Nanos...

You guys always have great food! That meeting at Arts house and Daves was awesome! :D Of course that's the only two I have been too, but that's 2 for 2! :)

What if we talk about nano-cube mods? I've been looking into it actually and think there's some really amazing modifications you can do to the nanos. That way we could talk about nanos and their modifications. It might be an interesting topic.

I'm fine with Feb 16 and ceviche.

I'll check my calender, but I think I am good. Heck, you are only 5 minutes down the street from me if I walk.

I'll buy all the ingredients for the ceviche and make it up Sat AM. I just looked for a recipe and couldnt find any like my brother-in-law makes. He would put fish, shrimp, and squid. I only find recipes for one ingrediant per dish. I guess I need to give him a call.

I was thinking of doing sushi ALONG with the ceviche but I dont know about that now. Leave that up to you guys.

I like the idea of the nano mods. I havent done any mods to my tank so if you guys think you can help with any of the ones listed in this thread (scroll down a bit) I may be inclined to try it.

I don't mind to talk if no one else voluteers... I would however encourage someone else to do it though... :D

Now that I finally looked at the mods on the bookmark that I made, I only want to do the silencer mod. There's a mesh mod or something for the skimmer, and also cutting the bottom of the skimmer 1/2" to lower it (gets the skimmate to bubble over better). Some have cut the neck of the skimmer so that the bubbles don't have to rise so high to flow over. I wouldn't object to cutting the skimmer. Still not a big ta-do topic thing...

The topic could be how to successfully keep nanos and modify them in order to expand for their potential inhabitants... :)

How many people have nano's???

1)Randy
2)Don
3)Mel
4)Art
5)Dana
6)Donna
7)Kim
8)???

Then again, if someone wants to talk about something else or suggest something else, that would be great too... :)

I don’t think we are going to be able to attend, with us packing for the move to Kansas. If we could attend, Stefan could give a report about the skimmer he just built and show it off.

Donna

I'll be setting up a nano at home soon as I buy one, and I have a 10G on my desk at work that is doing well.

Don: As for food planning, I'll pass on the ceviche. I think something like that would be wasted on my meat-and-potatoes eating habits.

Randy...I can do the talk on the modifications of nanos for the betterment of their inhabitants.

I figure that if I volunteer for it then I'll HAVE to learn about it. Presenting a topic is the best way to learn about it, in fact.

$50/hr? Wow Don, taking one for the team eh?

Holy crap...I didn't even notice that! You sure you don't want to fund a little LFS shopping for us too Don? hah hah.

I think Ashley Jo would spend at least $50/hr... :D But thats only because she doesn't get to go shopping too often... Thank god she doesn't work at the Clinique counter anymore... Shopping at lunch was far too convenient...

Man...I never go "shopping". I wish I had a sugar daddy to pay for a bunch of crap for me.

I'm still trying to figure out how to swing buying a trash can. hah hah.

Six more now! Wooo hoooo. I wonder if anything happens at 4000. Maybe I get a fish or something? hah hah. Rewards for saying a bunch of useless crap...that would be awesome! hah hah.
