February meeting

This is going to be a busy month for the club, we will be going to the BAR frags swap on the 12th, and visiting reef stores in the bay area to pick up corals for the club's raffle. Also many of the members are busy in general so I would like to push our meeting to a different day and do it on Sunday the 20th instead of the usual second Friday of each month.

Steve Ruddy has graciously opened up his door to invite the members to his beautiful house for our next meeting. He has been very busy upgrading all of his frag tanks so I am very excited to see them.

We are going to have a frag swap so please bring one or more corals to swap. This month swap will include Zoas, LPS and sps.

We will also have a raffle so please bring cash.

Date: 2/20/2011
Time: 11:00 am - late after noon
Location: Coralreefecosystems dot com

Steve also mentioned that he just bought a brand new BBQ so let's help him break it in :D BYOB, and Bring something to grill for yourself or shares with friends.

Please note: Their will be a 10% discount on corals and dry goods so load up. Steve's prices are already awesome so with another 10% you should take full advantage of it.

I am all for the 20th meeting! my wife's b-day is the 11 and v-day is the 14th so that weekend was out! but the following weekednd the 20th I'm in, lets set up a car pool.

Thats funny, I just asked for the 20th off last week and got my first Sunday off in 2 years. I was just going to enjoy a quiet weekend at home but now I get to go to the meeting!!
Shane I would love to carpool maybe Ken or Grant or all would like to go to.
Steve I am only going so I can harass those awesome cats of yours. :)

I am not letting my wife go as last time we were up there I spent two weeks convincing her she didn't need to spend $2000 on a cat:eek2:

Sounds good to me lets carpool...what breed is $2000? I really want a savahana or a toyger.....a serval would be cool too! Some people have guard dogs, I want a guard CAT! haha i think all the fish would be MIA if I had a big cat.

More like you will be MIA lol

Shane
I think Savahannas are cool but the problem with most of those big "wild" cats are that you need to have only one and a lot of room.

Steve has a couple of Maine Coons. I used to have one when I first lived in Petaluma. They are smart and they get to about 18-25 pounds. I used to have people look in my windows and then knock on the doors asking if I had a baby Bobcat. Probably my best cat ever but don't tell any of the ones I have now or they will get jealous. The reason I have fish is really to keep my cats entertained. They love to watch and they are all smart enough now to know they really can't get them. Although I think they try now and then just to make me freak out. My yellow wrasse has made several unsuccessful jumps to escape a feline.

Just to tell you how cool my cat was, I was about to go on a trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons when my cat wouldn't leave me alone and kept meowing I finally followed him to see what was going on and he led me to a leaking pipe that probably would have flooded the house till the person watching it found the leak. I fixed it and had a great trip thanks to that cat.

If any of you have ever wondered about my screen name it is after my first 2 cats kokanee and junior.

Yea us people who have no kids and to many fish and cats are wierd I know:wavehand:

The meeting sounds great Tom. Thanks for arranging that.

Friends of my family growing up had Maine Coon cats. They were awesome (for cats ;)).

Looking forward to it Tom. Craig you fit in just fine with all of us . We have to be a little nuts to do this " hobby" .

Thanks for the notice Tom. My calendar is currently, clear so I am planning to go. Looking forward to meeting most of you.

Glad to see that you can make it. Next week we will be going to Neptune to pick up corals for the club so the raffle should be very nice. Neptune will also be donating some cool corals so hopefully we will have a good turn out.

hahaha i love it Craig. One cat is good for me. A Maine Coon is our 3rd choice. They have a lot of hair....I really like Savanna’s but an F1 or F2 is like $3,000 or more! You don't want that cat to get outside and lost

Alright everyone, the meeting is next week so please chime in to build up some excitements and let us know if your are coming so we can have enough corals ready for the raffle.

I'm in. The last meeting we had there back in '09 was excellent. Plus Steve has dry goods and livestock, so you can pick up whatever you might need at the same time.

Hey all what do you want to do for food, etc for sunday?? potluck, hamburgurs and sausages or what. I for one want to give Steves new grill a test run(weather permitting) what do you guys think?

This morning's weather forecast called for sunny and nice on Sunday.

As I recall, last time I brought my grill as well as a way to facilitate the grilling process (more square inches of grill surface to load up :)). I could do that again if that would be helpful.

As far as what to grill, I'd be up for chipping in on a group buy if others are interested. Ribs? Steaks? Chicken? Burgers? Dogs?

Macrobiotic gluten free locally sustainably farmed free trade tofu patties?

All of that sounds good Ken. I was just going to get a couple of packs of sausages and rolls but a group buy of some sort would be even better. Lets hear from the rest of you guys and gals. BTW I will be bringing a two eye frag of the Pink Mojito chalice for the raffle this time as well as some other pieces.
