Feeding a Powder Blue Tang?......

I guess I need a bit of help. I have tried pretty much everything under the sun to get my new powder blue to eat, dried nori sheets. red & green algae sheets, mysis, flake, pods, 4 different types of live algae, 2 different kinds of sponges growing wild in my tank, as well as several commercial mixes. Fish guy at the store said to try romaine lettuce, but I'm hesitant to try anything that is not meant for sea living. My scopas tang thinks he is hog heaven and just as happy as can be. The angels, cherub & potters, are getting fat. Gobbies are sassy. Just can't seem to find anything the powder blue will eat.

Any one have any suggestions?

My blue was eating flakes after trying other foods. It likes only the red color though. try flake.

I have some orange flake and he's just showing no interest in that at all. I even mushed up some of the red algae and sent it through the return pump to broadcast it through the tank. Didn't touch it. I think he has been munching on the red gracillaria I put in and he's nipped a bit at a red hair algae. Hasn't touched the green hair algae I begged the guys at the LFS to scrape off their tank to give to me....lol I would have to say that is probably the first time they ever had someone ask for hair algae....lol Not too worried about it as the seahare will eventually find it and demolish it.

You know, I'm kind of at the point that I might consider him a gonner. He was a $50 fish and I've spent over $100 trying to find something he will eat to no avail. Next time I think I will fork out a bit more for the fish and get a larger version instead of the juvi.

My took ten days before ate anything so give it some time keep the water clean and he will start to eat before you know it.

He's Eating!!

He's Eating!!

HAH! I just knew it would work!! As soon as I give up on something it miraculously starts doing what I want it to do....lol Power blue is eatting well on the gracillaria and nips at another of the red macros.

Here are the algae he is nibbling on.
