Feeding Broccoli to Tang

I have a Powder Blue Tang x10 days from LiveAquaria. Very healthy in appearance and about 3 1/2" long. It has been constantly picking at the rocks but until today has not eaten anything I put in the tank. Well today, thank goodness, it has started eating the nori I put in each day. I have a foxface and a lawnmower blenny that eat it like pigs. I have heard that broccoli flowerettes are also good to feed tangs. This is probably a stupid question but do you feed the fresh broccoli raw or slightly parboil it first to soften it? I feed zuchini to my freshwater fish and parboil it before feeding so wondered if should do same for this.

when i fed broccli I froze it so that it would retain the vitamins but by freezing would beak the cells up to make for easier digestion.
I would feed nori s the ain food source though.

if it doesnt grow in the ocean i dont feed it, i wouldnt feed a rabbit seaweed, why feed a tang vegetables

The use of broccoli is due to the vitamin C content. There is some debate about its ability to prevent and/or treat Lateral Line Erosion on tangs. LLE has been said to be caused by ungrounded tanks (ungrounded facts?) but I think the nutrition seems a more likely issue. I feed nori and have tried the broccoli but my guys wont touch it.

although (possibly) not ideal... if it is getting the critters the added substance and variety to be healthy then I do not see a problem, while yes it doesn't grow in the ocean certain terestrial plants do have the benifit of some vitaims and minerals. If you have looked at the labels of some of the more popular flake/pellet food there is quite the variety of mixed ingredients from both the ocean and land.
just my opinion though :)

Well you could feed your tang some flakes or seaweed salad attached to a lettuce clip. If you want to feed him that or broccoli, and he doesn't want it, you can intice him by dipping the food in Garlic Guard . Garlic is a natural odour that attracts certain fish's like cichlids, tangs and clowns like blood to a great white. In a minute or so he will graze on that. I do it everytime when I want feed fish's some nice leafy vegetables.

Broccoli if fine as long as you include marine food in larger quantities. I feed my fish bananas and avacados along with their regular meals.
