Fellow MCE600 Owners, question....

Hi, yesterday I installed an MCE600 skimmer on my aquarium. I am incredible impressed! I have a question however. I currently have the air valve open to the 2 o'clock position as the directions state. My talk was previously skimmed. Should I, or what is the recommended air tap position once the skimmer is "settled"?

Thanks!

Keep it all of the way open untill the skimmer breaks in fully, then to get a "finer" bubble size turn it back to the 2 o'clock position. The skimmer body is so small that all of the way open the amount of air drawn in makes huge bubbles, restricting it makes them smaller and increases the water flow through the skimmer ... mine skims better at the 2 position...

That is very helpful and thank you! So, 2 pm is wide open? I have been trying to look in there with a flashlight but really have no idea what wide open was.

2 o'clock is partially closed. It makes the pump pull more water than air,
increasing the water height in the reaction chamber, try adjusting it with the cup off. You will see the bubbles change size and their level rise as the water level rises. The hiss is just from the air going through the smaller opening of the valve at 2 oclock into the larger size hose...

Thanks, I'll look at it tonight! This is very helpful. The instructions that came with the unit are not all that great.

That is very impressive. I am more of a spend too much money on things and get in trouble with the wife guy. Not all that handy unfortunately. Thanks for sharing, it looks great.
