I was thinking the same thing when I saw that sponge, so I wish he would answer that question. I know there are people in the URS that keep some of those Gorgonians with Cyclopeeze. However, he does not list that as a food source.
I'm surprised at some of the invert's that are able to be kept nowadays. I don't know if it's general advancement in the hobby, a better understanding of the animal's needs, or the types/amounts of food sources available to the hobbiest now. I've seen some folks seriously attempting Dendronepthea's even!

It seems he specifically ignores the question of how long they've been in there, but based on his posting pics in his gallery of his 24gallon April 1st with the zoanthids as new livestock and no filterfeeders, I'd speculated they've been in there for a short time. They are gorgeous though. My next system I'm going to connect a darkened high flow "cryptic zone" tank just to see what type of cool filter feeders come out of the rock.
