Filter sock, yea or nay

i am looking for a cheap used unit as we speak just for my socks.

FWIW, I pulled my sock out tonight and don't plan on putting it back in. My skimmer performs better without it and constant washing is a PITA!

+1 on the Nay vote. Too much of a PITA. No water quality problems so far...

based on what you've described in this thread, Gene, you might be better off not running a mechanical filter. If you choose to run a mechanical filter I would think that 200 micron would be your best choice. JMO.

FWIW I run a "SPS type" aquarium and I run a 10 micron filter 24/7 along with a great skimmer and I have no shortage of pods etc. etc.
