hi all, just bought my first batch of fish in my sera marine biocube...im trying to feed them frozen marine mix (frozen cube) however it keeps floating and is eventually sucked in by the sump without it ever reaching my fish. What can i do?

thanks

Turn pumps off for a short time while feeding... Makes it easier for the fish to get it before it settles or gets pulled into the filtration system.

You could just defrost the cube in a cup of water first and then use a spoon to dish out small portions at a time. Overfeeding can be a big problem in this hobby and this method is definitely a lot safer than throwing the whole cube in the tank IMO. GL.

Or thaw it out in a glass and add some tank water. Then use a turkey baster to spray the food where you want it. BTW, I trurn my pumps all off for 10 to 15 minutes when I fed as well.

I use the same process every here seems to say myself. Thaw food, turn pumps off, feed, and the turn pumps back on.

The one thing that was mentioned earlier is the over feeding. I have a 29 BioCube that was doing great till I started feeding the tank frozen foods. I was doing a cube every couple days. After I week I had to do a couple emergency water changes as it was too much for the bio filtration. I don't feed as much now and smaller amounts. I have also read that once the cubes are thawed they are not good for very long even if kept cold.

One of my tanks refuses to eat if the pumps are not running. Another tank eats from my hand, pumps or not. Go figure. I would dissolve a cube in tank or tap water. Then use a turkey baster to spot feed and pour the rest for general consumption.
