So just my female pintail wrasse is in its acclimation box currently getting a lil bolder.
Got her from mike at NYaquatics. I'm sooo suprised she lasted the 4 days on the website. I saw her on a Tuesday and sprinted to my wallet. She made the trip to Cali, and is in my acc. Box eating well.
No pics yet as my box has a blue side on the tank side allowing her to only worry about whats on one side. She is getting used to seeing the other wrasses and vice versa.

Tank mates will include.

2 female flame wrasses
Male labouti,
Red velvet supermale
Rosefascia pair
Male Kenyan exquisite
Orange back
Female solorensis
Blue flanked juvenile
Yellow coris pair
Blue spot tamarin

Regal angel
Goldflake angel
Venustus angel
Fox face
And a few misc blennies

Cross your fingers that the next couple weeks go well and she gets fatter and does

If you go to reef builders and type in pintail wrasse, its identical to the group of females in first article

Wow, thats quite a group to add a new guy to, hope she settles in nicely without too much bullying. I'm pretty sure Mike had a few of these pintails, they've been flooding in lately. I got one from the last bunch that's still in QT. They are really beautiful fish, congrats.

The article talks of the dwarf species and the regular species. What you have is the dwarf, right? Looks great as a female amazing as a male. Hopefully you won't have to wait long for it to change. Mike must have gotten several in. It's still on the website. Both of these are pintail fairys. Maybe the second is the regular species.

The first picture is C. cf lanceolatus, the "dwarf", closely related to C. lunatus. The cf means it does not have its own naming yet, but it looks like another species. The second is C. lanceolatus, which is an aggressive Fairy that gets up to 7". The former sells for around $150-250; the latter for $2,000.

I also picked up a C. cf lanceolatus from Mike at NYA. Doing quite well in QT as we speak.

I dislike the term pintail being used for lanceolatus. That beast is totally unrelated and should just be left as lanceolatus. The misfortune of sharing the same tail shape has led confusion between the two.

That's why I like that most places are now listing the Cf lancealtous as a rose banded fairy wrasse. If every one were to go with this name it would help with the confusion and the true lanceolatus could keep the pintail name.

Rose Banded Fairy is Cirrhilabrus roseafascia. Hopefully C. cf lanceolatus aren't being listed as that, as that will cause even more confision.

And AFAIK, C. cf lanceolatus was the one originally known as "Pintail".

Congrats! I'm actually getting my cf. lanceolatus trio from la tomorrow...along with a femininis! I hope they play well w my other wrasses.

Wow, some nice pickups there! You don't mess around :)

My C. cf lanceolatus is still in QT, so I can't comment on how it will do with existing wrasses. Based on how bold it is in the QT, I think it will be able to hold its own just fine though. Please post some pics once they are acclimated :)

My pair are doing great will a total of ~40 other wrasses after short QT and intro with acclimation box. The other pair that I got for my friend are also doing great in his 300dd with ~20 other wrasses... Out front, looking for attention!
Really good looking fish, I may grab a few more as they come in!

Red velvet supermale
Rosefascia pair
Be careful with these; definitely keep an eye on them. Both species are known to become quite hostile amongst other Cirrhilabrus.

Ugh, how I hate the recent usage of the "dwarf" term. These are two very seperate species; each quite unique. One is NOT a sub-species of the other.

+100

My thoughts exactly.

Correct again.

Yeah I have a M/f pair of rose fascia....totally different from this one! and def. different from a true lancelatous.
