Firefish:Indonesia vs Africa?

What's the difference in fish when they come from different areas. Specifically firefish, on LA they're selling one from Indonesia and one from Africa and the one from Africa costs twice as much as the other.

If I had to guess I would say no real difference between the two (at least when dealing with firefish, I know that with other fish it can have a significant impact) so my best guess would be shipping cost due to location.

Correct. And the African counterpart is more expensive.

Better catching practices, more distance to a airport, more people it has to go thru to get to you. Whole sale markup to name a few

Also ALOT of retailers have a 80-100% markup on fish and sometimes much higher

I know this is a little of topic, but in a few months im going to ordering a couple carberryi anthias carberryi anthias from la. They have the anthias from africa and maldives listed at the same price. Witch one if prefferable? Thanks in advance for any advise!

The one from Africa has a better chance of making it in your aquarium. One of my local LFS only gets cleaner wrasses from Africa because he has never lost one in transport. Everyone knows how bad the losses are for cleaner wrasses
